Hi Moms,

My 5 year old daughter is almost 43inches and a few pounds under 40lbs.. I've had her in the britax roundabout as the weight limit is 65lbs. Just found out the height limit is 40inches. Should I switch to a booster now? I've always liked britax and am considering the Britax parkway. Any thoughts?

What can I do next?

Hello,
We went from the Roundabout straight into the Britax Frontier 85 carseat/booster. You can use the 5 pt. harness up to 85 lbs.; beyond that you convert it to a booster. We have one for each car and it's really roomy and comfortable. Our 6 yo loves it.

Added: Why the snark, Rachel? I don't understand why you're knocking the moms who want their kids to be the safest they can possibly be in the car. That's uncalled for.

We recently bought the Britax Frontier 85 and so glad that we did! I love that car seat to death! My little one will be 4 next week and is 43 inches and 41lbs and she will be able to be harnessed in it until she's 85 lbs. Well worth the $$.

If she is 43" I would invest in a Frontier. It goes to 53" harnessed.
Are the straps below her shoulders?
If not she is ok as long as her head is also below the head part. Does that make sense? The straps (where they come out) should be at or above her shoulders.
The Frontier sells for $212 on Amazon.
Well worth it!

We have the britax frontier, I'd switch to that instead of the parkway. Safest to keep her harnessed longer like the frontier, to 85 lbs, then the belt to 120!

I would also say the Britax frontier for the 5 point harness this will be my go to seat for my little guy from the Britax Marathon.

After looking at everything available the Britax Frontier and the Graco Nautilus are very good options for bigger kids you still want in the 5 point harness. My 5.5 year old is 58 lbs (I can't recall his exact height but just under 4 feet). He still fits in the Graco Nautilus though it may be snug with a winter coat. My petite 26 lb 2.5 year old is comfy in the same seat (when adjusted for her).

If you want to stick with Britax, I believe the Marathon has a 49" height limit. I went with the Graco Nautilus when my son turned 5. Five point restraint is safer so I am planning to stick with the car seat as long as he fits. We do use a booster when we travel by air - the Nautilus is just too heavy (28 lbs) to travel with. The Marathon has a MSRP of $279. I found the Nautilus for $137.
