Car Seat Advice - La Mesa,CA

My son is 3 months old has weighs 17lbs and around 26" tall. He's going to be growing out of his infant car seat any day and I'm looking to buying a new car seat. Does anyone have any recommendations? My only concern is that he still doesn't have 100% control of his head and if I put him into a convertible type seat his head might flop around.

What can I do next?

Most convertible car seats can take an infant as small as 5lbs so I wouldn't worry about that. Just try to find one that you can leave rear facing for as long as possible. 2+years or so... (rear facing is safest).

We have the Britax Marathon, Roundabout and Regent (the Regent would be too big). I'd recommend the Marathon 5-35lbs rear facing 35-65lbs forward facing.

The seat he is in now probably goes to 30 inches, right? If so, wait until he hits that mark, by that time he may have better head control.

** P.S. after reading the previous post, I went to Britax's site and checked out the Boulevard. I'd get that one over the Marathon. Same specs but looks much more comfortable for a baby.

I just had to do the same with my son. I purchased the Britax Boulevard. It's awesome and has extra padding to protect his head. It is a little pricey but worth it because it seems to be one of the best carseats out there.

I just had to do the same switch with my daughter. We bought the Britax Diplomat. We love it, and she seems really comfy in it. Britax is expensive, but they are supposed to be the best..
Good luck

I bought a Britax Marathon when my son was about 4 months. He was (and still is) a big boy. It comes with removable padding for the infants so their heads wont be flopping around, and it also reclines back so that helps too. My son loves his carseat and I'm so glad I bought that one even though it's a little expensive. At Babies R Us they let you try out the different car seats, so maybe you can do that to ease your concerns. Good Luck!
