It might be a late apply but Dr. Merkel is great. I am 30years old and have been seeing him since I was 19. Delievered my son by c-section. Even my own mother who has never seen a male ob now sees him.
has anyone ever used canton IHA for their OB/GYN care? If so, any Dr recommendations?
What hospital do you recommend? how was your experience?

Dr. McFarland was not only the best physician I have had the pleasure of working with, she performed an emergency c-section and personally monitored me throughout the ordeal. I can NOT speak as highly regarding IHA ped's. As I try to warn as many people as possible regarding the near death experience of my son.(see my bio for more info). Good luck in both your decision and delivery. Please post your decision and outcome!
my iha is in plymouth.....st joes was great for delivery :) dr gove is my ob's name, he was superiour :)
I delivered at the Uof M with the midwife group. Thier office is in the East ann arber medical center building. I had the peace of mind delivering in a hospital with the very best NICU but the freedom of natural choices that a CNM can offer!
If you have anymore questions feel free to ask!

Dr. Jody Jones was my primary OB/GYN when I gave birth to my daughter 5 1/2 years ago. Dr. Hrozencik actually delivered my daughter. What I liked about the practice was, at the time, you spent all of your early appointments with your primary doctor. Once you got to a certain point in your pregnancy, you started to rotate between the other doctors so you would feel comfortable knowing them if they delivered you. Dr. Hrozencik was the only one I hadn't had a chance to meet with, but she was wonderful.
I just checked their site and other than Dr. Jones and Dr. Hrozencik, Dr. MacFarland & Kathy Kise are the only other staff still there from when I saw them. Which, is thankful. They had one doctor who was just awful, but she's not there any more. I won't say who she was, but she nearly delivered my daughter and I was going to be pretty upset if she had. She was very young and thought she knew and could do absolutely everything. Even going to so far as to not allow the experienced L&D nurse do their job because she felt she had to do it all.
I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about St. Joe's. It's much smaller than UofM, so it's more convenient for parking and such. My daughter was born premature at 33 weeks. They were amazing from the day I walked in, until the day she came home. Since I've had her, they've opened up a new L&D wing, which I've been told is just beautiful.
Bottom line, you should take the time to meet with the doctors on their staff. Especially if it's the policy that who ever is on call will deliver you.
I LOVE this practice and delivered at St. Joes. The docs are great and for the most part run on time. Dr. Merkel is my OB & he is great. Dr. Jones delivered my 2nd baby and she was a sweetheart. Nurses were so nice too during my pregnanacy's.
We use the Peads at this office too for our kids and love the doctors and Nurse Pract. VERY happy with this location and level of service.
I haven't used the Canton IHA doctors, however the doctor I did use is an IHA doctor in Ypsilanti. They are a great group of doctors, I'm including their phone # and information.

The link above is to the IHA page for the office; my main OB/GYN was Dr. Beemer, but they're all great. My mom used them when she was pregnant with my brother; delivery is at St. Joe's and it's a pretty good experience; they've updated the labor and delivery suites and they look awesome. But you'll want to send someone out for dinner because the hospital food is an epic fail. Good luck!
I had Donna Wrozencik (sp?) 9 yeras ago. I'm not sure if she is still there. I delivered at St. Joe's in Ann Arbor. It was a great experience. My second daughter was born at UofM due to insurance chages. I really missed the hand-on help from St. Joes. All of the nurses were great.
Hope this helps.
I LOVE that practice! My primary is Dr. Hrozencik (pronounced RO-ZEN-SIK). I think she is great. I also really like Dr. MacFarland. I have not had a bad experience there with any of the doctors, and I have seen them all. St. Joe's is fantastic, too. My friend just delivered at U-M after being at St. Joe's the last time. She said that she had great care, but she would choose St. Joe's because they were more helpful, she felt. They also allow you to stay longer should you choose to. Good luck. I hope you like IHA. Let me know if you have any other questions.
