You might be able to see a gestational sac in a transvaginal ultrasound. Unless you are quite thin, and the position is just right, it will be hard to see much of anything else. The heartbeat will be first visible in another week or two.
Hey there. Yesterday I had four positive pregnancy tests! I have an ultrasound on Tuesday to check a cyst I had on my ovary a couple months ago. I am just wondering if they will be able to see anything at the ultrasound. I will be exactly four weeks on the day of the ultrasound. Has anyone ever had a four week ultrasound and been able to see anything?

If they're ONLY checking your ovary, you won't see baby, BUT if they check your uterus, you'll see a little mis-shapen lima bean and you'll fall in love with the little blurb even though it looks like... a bean ;)
We couldn't, even with a vaginal US. I went in at 5 weeks for a potential MC and the US lady said there was an empty sac but that it was REALLY early and to come back in 2 weeks for a follow up at 7 weeks if my numbers stayed good. At 7 weeks, for me, there was a very small blurb with an even smaller heartbeat!
This early, I think seeing it will be hit or miss, but if it's a hit-what a wonderful day it will be for you!! Congratulations!!!
They will be able to see something, but if you're like me, you'll see nothing. They even pointed whatever they saw out, but it just looked like a fuzzy radar picture to me! Congratulations!!
I had four 6 week US and they look like a peanut. Sorry, you can't see much yet.
Yes, Ma'am! We saw 2 little peanut-shapes at 3 weeks that would later become our beautiful twins :)
We could see our twins heartbeats at 4 weeks but that was about all - very grainy and it took a lot of squinting and guidance as to what we were looking at! Good luck!
yes, they will be able to see a 'dot.'
How exciting! Congratulations! I had a Trans Vaginal Ultrasound at 4 weeks and we were able to make out the gestational sac... barely. It just looked like two (I carried twins) little black holes in the image. By the 6 week TVU we were able to see both heartbeats! Good luck.
There is a web site that shows you what the baby looks like each week. Go to http://www.pregnology.com/pregnancy/07/12/2011 - the 3rd picture down is 4 weeks pregnant (from date of last period). Again, like one Mom posted - you will have to have a vaginal ultrasound, not just ultrasound of your ovary.
I had a 6 wk ultrasound. They do it vaginally. The baby looked like a grain of rice, but I could see the heart beating. Wonderful!
They won't be able to see a fetus or anyhting but a sac and yok sac. They won't be able to do a positive test till 6 to 7 weeks in they can than see a heart beat I just went through all this. I would call your ob tomorrow and let them know about the positive test to see they may want to wait to check the cyst till your 6 weeks so they can do a comformation at the same time.
