I just wore a pair of Stuart Weitzman's to a wedding. Expensive, but totally worth it!
I am going to a wedding at the end of the month and need to buy some new shoes. I want a dressy, pretty black high heeled shoe that will be comfortable - !! Can you recommend a brand/style of high heeled shoe that you have found to be incredibly comfortable from the get-go? Any details about your suggestion (e.g. they run small/large, etc.) would also be great. I appreciate any suggestions - thanks!

I'm not sure about shoes, but bath and body works sells something called "foot petals". They make any heel feel 100 times better on me. They are about $8 I think. Good luck and have fun at the wedding.
For myself, I have always found that the most comfy heel is the kind that has a thicker part where your toes are...sorry, I do not know the correct term for these type of shoes. My favorites have a little bit thicker heel in the back (the 'high part'). Sorry, I don't know if you will have any idea what I am talking about...but mine are so comfy, I could run in them...and yes they are cute and stylish!
As a rule, high heels just aren't that comfy - biomechanically they stress the front part of your foot, which is not designed for lots of weight bearing. But Naturalizer and Aerosoles make some that are OK. If you don't mind a blockier looking shoe take a look at Dansko (they make pretty sandals and clogs - not sure about dressy heels) and Mephisto ($$ but amazing). I have a pair of Franco Sarto low heels that are very pretty and also very comfortable, too. You could also consider a pretty black ballet flat - those can be really comfortable and are still dressy.
