Can You Recommend a Good Gymnastics Facility for a 5 Year Old Boy?

I am looking for recommendations for a gymnastics facility near The Colony, TX for a 5 year old boy. I want a facility that will recognize skills and work progressively with him as opposed to a facility that considers him a number in a group of children for a basic skills class. Does that make sense?

I have had my son in a couple classes before where the instructors would spend more time working with keeping kids organized or assisting those who need more help and less time with those that may already have the skills but are restricted by age. I completely understand that is normal and to be expected, but my son often found himself bored because he would finish his task quickly, get back in line and move to the next one with little to no assistance. The result: No progression in skills. In addition, he quickly got bored.

I really want to put his somewhere he is placed according to his ability, not age, and allowed to progress as his skills allow.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

My daughter (5yrs old) goes to Sky High Gymnastics here in The Colony. She has the best time and is constantly doing some sort of exercise. The coaches are attentive and hands-on. The classes are one class a week at $60.00/mo.

WOGA is good option as well. Take the classes and supplement with private lessons.

My daughter did some private cheer training at the Plano WOGA.

I dont really have a recomendation but I can tell you. Dont go to Excite in Flower Mound. I have my kids there for 3 yrs. They were doing great until this last year. I pulled them out last summer and have been looking for something new since. My issue was they were changing coaches every 2 weeks, so my child wasnt having any progression at all. Each coach had to relearn my childs skills everyime, so they were never moving forward. We were going to go to Cougar in Carrollton but I heard that they had the same issues with keeping coaches as Excite did.

This may be further than you want to go, but the Richardson Gymnastics program is fantastic! http://www.cor.net/FlipPage/Rec_Today/Summer2011/issue1/i... (go to page 10) They are half the price of anywhere else in the Metroplex, but they advance the children when they are ready to, as soon as space is available. They will test your son to see what level he is at, and then give a class recommendation. I have my DD(11), DS(8), and DS(5) in their program, and have for about 2-1/2 years. They also have reasonable private/semi-private lessons to help with that last skill or two to progress to the next level more quickly.
