It depends upon whether it's an oven-going thermometer or a instant read.
Here, this should help you.

Just a regular ol meat thermometer. Can I leave it in my pork roast while it cooks or will it explode or something?
THanks christy. Mine looks similar to the top one, but it doesn't say anything about "leave in" on the thermometer itself.

Does it have a probe with a separate console that sits outside of the oven? If so, the probe is safe to use.
If you have an instant read thermometer, don't put it in the oven and leave it there. You should check the temperature in a few places anyway, not just one spot. As long as you're not making a souffle, open the oven door and check the temp toward the end of the cooking process.
Depends on what kind it is.
Most are not "oven safe" there are some that are. There is an OXO one that is electronic and you run it via the oven door.
If yours is like a stick with the gauge on top? Most likely not.
You can do a quick google search for your thermometer and see what the item details are for yours.
Hope that helps!
