Can You Check a Double Stroller at the Airline Gate?

We are flying in two weeks and have three small children all under the age of 4. I have been trying to avoid having to bring the double stroller on vacation but seems we have no choice since we will be going to disneyland and they don't rent double strollers. Does anyone know if you can check a double stroller at the gate? And should I bring a stroller bag for it or not?

What can I do next?

Yes, I have gate checked my double stroller on several occasions.
You will be happy to have it - the problem with renting is that you have to give the stroller back at the gate and you could be stuck carrying three tired kids to the bus or car and into the hotel. I would actually take an umbrella stroller for the oldest - there were several nights we carried the smallest out because the two oldest were exhausted (but happy!) and taking up the two stroller seats. You could check the single if you don't want to gate check it, but it will save you a lot of carrying!

Yes you can check a double stroller at the gate. It's up to you to bring the bag but let me tell you that they do get banged around alot during flight.

Hi S. -
We just got back from vacation and brought our double stroller. If it will fold, you have to put it on the belt through security. Fold it again when you hand over your boarding passes, and they will have it outside the plane for you when you get off - makes things really easy. Just put a tag on it like your luggage if you want to and it's not necessary to bring the stroller bag. Having the stroler in the airport with my twins made it so much easier!

S., although you can take a double stroller - and I definitely would, if I were you - I just wanted you to know that Disneyland DOES rent double strollers. They're not the most comfortable things in the world for very small kids, but they work very well for toddlers or preschoolers.
