Hey, if we can take a break from politics forever I'll be happy. I'm more interested in helping a mama whose baby won't sleep (or finding out what other mamas do about non-sleeping babies) than trash about politics.
Sooo....I know I am just as guilty as some of you with the polticial posts, but because I have been watching it get more and more heated here, can we just put it on hold for the weekend?
No sniping from the Left or the Right?
No agenda-driven posts for a few days?
No name-calling?
No hateful PMs?
No pretending not to be political but then sneaking it in there?
Just for a few days, ladies? I know we can do it! I promise I won't reply to any more until Monday :)

Hmmm.
I've already been on a break.
I don't even look at any political posts.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if I wanted to get into political discussions, I'd go to a political site. This is not what I'm here for, and it's not what this site is for. This site is about moms asking "for advice on everything moms need: parenting, health, family, finance, pregnancy, nutrition, and travel;" - this is quoted from the site "about us" page.
I'd rather help a mama or read other mamas' input on sleep, school issues etc. than all the trash talk that happens when politics comes up, because 9 times out of 10, it's not a "what would you do as a mom to fix this?" question, which would be awesome and constructive, but a "let's trash the other side" free-for-all.
So yeah, let's be politics free for the rest of the year unless it can be constructive and not destructive.
No problem with that here. I think we should stick to the more uterine driven questions.
Has that happened? Did I miss something? I probably missed something. I like the political posts as well as any others because it's a good opportunity to learn a different point of view.
I think when it gets nasty on here is usually when people are set in their own ways to such an extent that they can't even bear to hear someone else's point of view. Then, no subject is safe. It could be breast feeding, co-sleeping, CIO, SAHM, working moms, discipline styles, political views. You name it.
I think if people want a break from poliltical posts that is more than cool. I think it would be even cooler if we applied the same guidelines you listed to just about every subject, and if we applied them every day, not just this weekend. THAT would be awesome!
I could not agree more!!!
Sounds good to me. Granted some might not read this post b/c they're already in bed. :(
Well it's okay with me. I usually ignore then anyway. But I've been sucked into a few lately. That's why I wrote about my butterfly saga in hopes people would be at least interested in something interesting that's not political. But someone accused me of slighting the non-homeschooling moms.
No problem here!!
Trying to get this letter written to the school board and principal....I've received a lot of good information from you ladies so far!! Would love to have some more...I have to take my emotion out of it and you ladies are REALLY helping me!!
then we have pop corn sales today for cub scouts!! Anyone want some popcorn?!?!? Then we have our Cub Scouts camp out...oh yeah...(wait - I'm supposed to be excited about this - right?)
I will state that I just read a post that is sooo filled with bias it's not even funny...and the source of the "information" was even more filled with hate and bias...that was upsetting.
No politics from me this weekend!! Promise!!
