You kept him out of school for a week out of fear of people seeing the black eye, or it getting further injured. It would have been far better to be upfront in the beginning, every child gets black eyes and accidents. That is suspicious behavior to keep him out. The school is only acting in the best interest of your child. And yes, stop smoking weed, they can hold that against you.
You might be mad at them for investigating. But what if there was another kid whose mother DID hit their kid and who DOES smoke at home. She is a danger to the kids and what if that went neglected? I heard a story of a woman who was playing with her daughter and they put tape on their own mouths to be funny. The red mark remained i guess and the kid told her teacher "mommy put tape over my mouth." Another story, a neighbor heard kids screaming and crying and the neighbor didnt do anything becuase she didnt want to interfere. Turns out they were being beaten.
Just be thankful they are keeping a watch out for kids in dangerous situations. I hope you can resolve this easily.
If you are not guilty then you have nothing to worry about. Keeping him home for a week because of a black eye - kinda weird. Smoking weed? Kinda stupid and illegal and I'm assuming that you wouldn't be worried about someone finding out if you hadn't smoked it in front of your child...I'm sorry but I have no sympathy for a MOM who's a drug user - shame on you! There are many LEGAL ways to help your stress...
