Can I Rip My Boob?

I know this sounds really weird but I really want to know if this has happened to anyone else. I stopped nursing my son a few months ago and about 3 weeks ago I noticed a sharp pain in one of my breasts, at the top towards my armpit, when I would sit down fast and my boobs would sort of flop down. Tonight I was on the ground with the kids getting jammies on and when I reached forward for something it felt like ripped in that spot. It felt really warm and sort of swelled. It was gone in a few minutes but I was wondering if it could possibly have been a calcified duct? What do you all think?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I saw my midwife yesterday and it turns out that I have a bunch of plugged ducts. Apparently you can get them years after you quit nursing, and since I have only been done a few months it makes sense. So I just have to do the opposite of everything you would do trying to remove a plugged duct...ice it, don't touch it, stay away from heat....

I think that you should see your gynocologist. If hot to the touch and swollen there might be an infection. I would get that check out as soon as you are able.. Some antibiotics should clear it right up. In the interim you could try applying an ice pack - (20 minutes on 20 off) - should also help with swelling..
Good luck!!

My guess would be a clogged milk duct when I get mine it feels warm to the touch swollen painful like ripping feeling sensation pressure in that area. Also if your bras are to tight they can cause breast pain especially under wire ones.My TLC for myself is warm shower, tylenol, ice pack,no bras for a while( indoors) massage the area,I had a case so bad I had to go into the drs office turned out from my discharge(milk) that I had a breast infection and was on antibiotics.

Sounds like a pulled muscle to me. Try to not use it too much ( I know thats hard) but it should feel better in a few days

doesnt matter what we all think; get yourself to the doctor.

it could be mastitis or plugged duct related. this is probably pretty common when ending breastfeeding because milk gets "stuck" in the breast and can cause trouble.
so go to the doctor, and make sure everything is ok.

I don't think you actually can rip your boob, but if you still feel a mass there or it feels warm, see your doctor just to check to make sure everything is ok.

It sounds like a clogged milk duct that could be getting infected. I agree with the warm shower and then gently massage the area. If you detect that you have a fever or chills, you need to see your doctor right away because then it is infected and is dangerous without antibiotics. My breasts continued to produce a small amount of milk for a looooong time after stopping nursing.
