My son loves to eat those teething biscuits...he sucks on them until they dissove. I was in the grocery store and saw the bananna flavored puffs made by Gerber Graduates. Did anyone use them before their babies had teeth?

What can I do next?

Absolutely! I gave my little one the puffs when she was even younger than that. She didn't have any teeth then, either. I actually prefer them to the teething biscuits or the toast because she would get choked on pieces of those. The puffs, however, just completely dissolve after about 5 seconds in the mouth. Also, as a cheaper alternative, wal-mart makes "little puffs" in the parent's choice brand and they are quite comparable.

please know that research shows that whatever you give your child at the age of nine months he will crave for the rest of his life whenever he becomes stressed. Knowing what I know about health and nutrition I would opt for a non processed food item.Something more natural -ie a banana. Cooked an processed foods lack 80% nutrients simply because they are heated above 108 degrees. For more information check out the raw food diet on line. We are so fortunate to have the web as a resource.

The Gerber Graduates puffs are great!! They dissolve as soon as you put them in your mouth. He doesn't need teeth for those. Cheerios are good too.

Absolutely! You can also start him on peas and carrots (the canned ones are softer and easier to gum up!-just rinse the extra water in it, it contains salt). Start transisting him to "solid foods" now will make it easier when he is a little older. I would definitly start giving a chopped up banana
(if you can squish it in your fingers, they can squish it in their mouth!)

absolutely. my son got his first tooth at 8months, and i started him on puffs at 6. so he ate them for 2 months with no teeth. babies love to feed themselves, and these puffs totally dissolve in the mouth, so he wont choke.

K.,
It's ok to give him puffs. I asked my ped., when my daughter was about that age, and he told me it doesn't have to do with how many teeth a baby has but how well the mouth muscles are developed. He said he has some babies with a mouth full of teeth that can't eat thing such as puffs and others with no teeth that could eat through steel. But puffs are great, as u have heard, they just melt away. My little one liked the baby alphabet cookies also (the Sesame Street characters on the front). Little messier but they are soft and teaches then to hold their food... Good job on your little one!

Hi K.,

My son ate them way before he had teeth. They are make to get mussy fast and my son loved them. If you are unsure about them, only give them to him when you are watching. That way you can see if he has any trouble chewing them..

hope this helps
