Hello all!
I will be moving to IN in Jun and my daughter will be starting High School this coming year. I was wondering if anyone has a child who attends Pike High School and how do you rate the school? Also my son will be going into kindergarten he will possiblygo to Central Elementary just want to get a heads up before we get there! I've heard really nice things about The Early Learning Center in Lawrence Township I think it's called???
Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I have children that go to Pike high school and I never had a problem with the school.. I did a lot of research before I started them in the Pike area....Central is a great school also I have a very autistic child that will be starting there next school year...They have a virtual web site for you to look at... in the search engine look for Pike township schools and you can search all the schools in Pike to help you fulfill your needs I think you will be happy....I was and my daughter goes to Lincoln...My 2 of my children gratuated from pike...And both of my Boys are in college and have advanced quit well...They work with you and your needs...If you are one of the parents that like to be involved with your children

Good Luck

Pike HS certainly wouldn't be my choice, but it does have some nice programs. As far as kindergarten goes....NO IFS, ANDS or BUTS, I'd check into kindergarten at LEARNING TIME which is at 86th & Zionsville Road. AWESOME preschool and K programs! Daughter attended there almost three years. I know they aren't a public school, but what they get above and beyond what's in the public school is well worth the time, $ and effort.

If you'd consider anything that's NOT a public school, might want to check out Brebuf Prep. My husband went there, have a brother-in-law who went there. Both said they were FAR more prepared for college than anyone else.

We recently moved from Lawrence Township Schools to Hamilton Southeastern Schools in Fishers. I honestly did not expect to experience any difference and thought they were equivalent schools. I was wrong. Hamilton Southeastern has been absolutely wonderful. My son was entering the 8th Grade when we moved. If you would like to discuss further or have any questions, please feel free to send me a message.

Pike is a good High school, it has its problems just like any other school, it grew too fast and they were not ready for all the growth. I think they are getting it organized now. My nieces and nephews went to Pike, they did well in both high school and college. Both said they would have liked to have gone to a little smaller school, but it is what it is.
The elementary schools in PIke are good but they too have the problem of being too large. Lawrence Twp's kdg program is lead by some very talented and eager teachers. If you still have choices as to where to send your kids to school or where you are going to live, I would check out some of the "suburbs" I know that sounds snobby, but some of them have really excellent school systems. Avon, Carmel, Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern. All of them have recognized schools that have been given 4 stars and have higher success rates for graduation,.

hope it helps
goodluck

This is my personal experience, but if you can avoid Pike Township, do just that. We moved from Pike nearly 3.5 years ago, I now had a 13 year old, the time we moved she was 9.5, and she struggled socially. Her 3rd grade teacher (at Central Elementary) apologized to us that our daughter was being basically ignored, while she, the teacher, did nothing but constant displine the other children. My daughter would come home crying almost everyday, because she had other children picking on her and threatening her. I do know that crime is up from when we lived in the area also. If you do move to Pike, try and enroll your elementary children into the year around academy (New Augusta or Fishback Academy, which is part of Pike Township Schools.) Thanks for your time, and good luck on your search. B. D.

I live near the earling learning center, but my daughter does not attend it. I know some who do and some that are about to, so I think it's fine. My dauthter attends a Montessori school.
Hope this link helps.
Best of luck with your move. :O)
