I would like recommendations on a child/pet friendly campgrounds. We just bought a 31' travel trailer and don't have any good places to go that are reasonably priced. I have 1 large dog and a 7 year old daughter. I would like someplace that comes with some things to do (swimming, volley-/basketball, fishing, etc.)

What can I do next?

Hi. Fort DeSoto near St. Petersburg is great! It is a county park but you need to make resrevations well in advance. You can do it on line. They have sites on the water and they have a dog beach where you can take your dog and child to swim. I think the name is Paws Beach and Dog Park. Dogs are welcome every where at Fort Desoto.

Hi N.,
Congratulations on the purchase of your new travel trailer. As an employee of a RV Sales and Service Dealership here in Central Florida I hope all goes well with all your trips. Owning an RV is a fun experience for the whole family.
Here is a website that will list a good majority of campgrounds here in Central Florida. http://www.floridaparks.com/floridacampgrounds/central/in...
Also most RV Dealerships and camping accessory shops have a book called Woodalls. It lists campgrounds all over the US along with the activities and ammendities for each campground and where they are located. Just ask for the campground directory.
If you ever plan on traveling out of the state with your RV or even within the state you can look up on the internet for your choice of two other books that cover what is at each exit along the interstate. One is called Next Exit and the other is called Interstate Exit Authority. It tells you what is on those exits as far as business, services, attractions etc.
I know sometimes when you're traveling with a large trailer behind you it's nice to know there really is a gas station on that exit or some place your family would like to eat before getting off and finding out nothing is there then having to hop right back on the interstate with your truck and trailer and hope someone is going to let you in.
I know you can find them books at Aamazon.com.
If I can help you in any other way please let me know.

Elizabeth

My husband and I take our 5 year old twin boys to Salt Springs. It is located in the Ocala National Forest. You can fish, swim in the springs, volley and basketball, we also go bike riding through the park. At night, you can drive through the park and see wildlife. I hope this helps.

I am almost 100% sure we know each other. Call me sometime, we have a popup camper and go to Ginnie Springs (3 hour north of here) and they have a great family park. Later.
