Hi Mamas! Our camera broke so it is time for a new one. We have a 2 year old so we want to buy something that works well capturing little ones on the move. I am looking for something in the 200-300 dollar range. Any suggestions?? Thanks!!

We've used Canons in our family for years. Among my daughters and me, we've got several in the $100 to $500 range and love 'em all. Have found them to be reliable, able to take a beating and also produce very good pictures.

Good luck!

I agree with Canon, I love them and they've done great for me. I'm pretty tough on cameras, to be honest, and I take TONS of pictures, way too many to be healthy actually. I've gotten the "cheap" Canon Power Shot because like I said, I usually drop them or let my kids use them or whatever and they last a few years and then they are done. So I spend about $200. I just recently got the Canon waterproof one that is more durable and obviously waterproof and I love it! I accidentally dropped it the second day I had it and I was so relieved I made the right choice!

I like the Power Shots b/c they are small and cute and compact and fit very easily in a purse or pocket. I like to have my camera with me all the time and my kids are still little so I don't want to fuss with lenses, a case, etc. Plus, I sometimes have to stop pictures mid picture to run after my 2 year old. :)

Nikon 8200. Takes the best point n shoot ever!!! You can get it for about $225 to $250. I take a huge amount of pictures of my grandchildren. Prefer it to my SLR.

I am a Nikon girl here! I just got a Nikon D5100, but it was about $800 for the camera and wider range lens.

The guy at the store showed me a different Nikon that was amazing, just with slower shutter speed and it was about $300 I think. With how fast my kids move, shutter speed is very important to me.

I also have a Nike D40...which is closer to $400 with the camera and the wider range lens - takes AMAZING pictures. I am giving that one to my 9 year old who loves photography as much as I do.

I tihnk anything Nikon or Canon will do you well though.

I went to a camera shop and told them what I wanted to spend and what I wanted the camera to do. I think the brand can change based on $ and what you want it to do or what you want pictures of.
