E.K.
I have a 2006 Sequoia & my only complaint (if you really can call it that) is the gas mileage. I use it every day & have had no problems, we use the 4x4 for the trips to the snow.
My husband is buying a toyota sequoia and I need feedback! Anybody with a sequoia please let me know if you had any problems or even praise. He wants to get a 2003-2006 sequoia but I need to know if I going to regret this car later! He says he has done the research but I would like some feedback from real owners. THANK YOU AHEAD OF TIME FOR YOUR REPLIES!!!
Thank you to everyone who answered!!! We bought a 2005 sequoia silver with 93k miles and got a great deal at $14k before taxes. I am VERY excited and happy with it. My husband was glad it came with a tow package (not sure what that means for me, but whatever!) Was very reassured with everybody's satisfaction with their cars, it made me rest easier! thanks again!!!

I loved my Sequoia! All the extras on just the basic models are so nice. The reasons I sold mine were that it was just mainly me and my daughter (my husband had his own car and we didn't travel much at the time), the gas mileage wasn't the greatest but I had mine during all the huge prices, and my daughter's car seat was in the middle of the 2nd seat so it was difficult to get the carrier all the way up into the car. Besides all of those I do truely miss the Sequoia but with you having 2 boys you'll love it for years to come! I would go test drive one yourself (even if you're buying from a private seller you can test drive one at the lots) bring your boys and see how easy or difficult it might be to put them in or take them out.
Good luck and enjoy!!
Hi R.,
We have a 2005 Sequoia, we bought it used in 2006. So far so good and we have been very happy with it. It is so roomy and spacious and very comfortable for my husband who is 6'7
As far as gas guzzler, he works two miles from home (knock wood) so it isn't our biggest concern. We do switch cars if he is driving farther than I am.
The only other problem we have noticed it that the Brake light comes on, we shut the car off and the light goes off. Friends of ours have the same problem, but the Toyota dealer of course has never heard of any such problem. Now that warranty is up, they will look into it, but it will cost $75 to check into it. My only frustration.
Enjoy, you will love it, but just remember, it is a big vehicle.
I have a 2006 Sequoia and I am pretty happy with it. I have 3 children. I had a minivan before my Sequoia. The mini van was definitely easier to get kids in and out. If you have two carseats in middle row and one in back, you cannot fold down middle row seat - so one child has to climb over the seats. We cram 2 carseats and a booster in the middle row. It's pretty tight. Still, it's bigger than most SUVs. My dad has a Tahoe and that is a lot smaller - at least his year is. All in all, we're happy with it! It has 4x4 and we need that here in CO.
oooh I envy you. That is the car we want. My MIL has one and we love it. We borrow it whenever we can for road trips.
My husband is a mechanic (20yrs and very good). That is our next car purchase. So since it is on my husbands short approval list, I know it is a good one.
My MIL has not had any problems with hers and I think it is at least 5 or 6 years old. Gas is pricey, but it is a bigger SUV so that comes with the territory. I like it because the seats are not bulky like the Tahoe and there is lots of space.
Have fun
I don't have a Sequoia, but a friend of mine does. The only big complaint I have heard from him is that it is a huge gas guzzler. He never drives it because it cost too much.
I have a 2002 Sequoia and I love it. During the time when gas went up the price to fill it was outrageous but I still love it. I bought it brand new and have almost 200K miles and it's still going strong. I'm going keep it another 3 years then pass it down to a nephew who is stoked to get it. The only problem I've had is sometimes the fuel light will come on even though the tank is full. As someone mentioned before Toyota doesn't know what the problem is. If I continue driving then it fixes itself.
I have a 2002 Toyota Sequoia and I LOVE IT! We bought it new and I've been very happy with it. No problems other than once last year when my key wouldn't turn the ignition over. We had to replace the key cylinder, or whatever it's called. It's roomy, seats 8 and I can haul oversized things in the back with the seats down or taken out. The seat warmers come in handy too on these cold mornings. It's also a very smooth ride for an SUV and quieter I think than most. Have fun and enjoy your car shopping!
When we were expecting our 3rd baby, I sent hubby to the Toyota Dealership to buy a minivan (I had just gotten a Sienna), and he fell in love with the Sequoia! It's been in our household almost a year, and we (especially hubby) love it! I feel a little uncomfortable driving it because it's so big, but that's never been a problem for my husband. We have 3 kids 4 and under, all in carseats, and the 3 carseats fit fine all in the center row. We usually keep the back seat folded down and use it for extra storage. With the latch system on carseats though, it's easy to move them around if we need to use the backseats for guests. My husband uses the car to go to and from work, and to pick up the kids from "school" every day. Any other errands around town, trips to the park, or vacations are done with my van (to keep the milage and wear on the Sequoia to a minimum). We did take the Sequoia to Tahoe last February because of the better tires - we went through snow and ice with no problem! It's comfy and drives really smooth. - LOVE IT!
We own a 2004 Toyota Sequoia and absolutely love it! We (knock on wood) haven't had any problems with it and vow to run it into the ground because we love it so much. And then replace it with another sequoia when we are through. One thing that I have heard can go wrong with the sequoias as well as with the other toyota suv's is the motor to the back window (it rolls down) can go out if you don't use it enough. We use ours quite a bit so it hasn't been a problem, but I know some one that it happened to. Other than that...zero complaints out of me! Good Luck.
