I have a 4 mo old little girl born at 7 lb 11 oz. She weighs 13 lbs now and barely eats 5 1/2 - 6oz every 3 hrs. She is eating 6x a day.
Every baby is completely different, so try not to go by what everyone else says. :)
My daughter is 3 months old and I just wanted to see how much other 3 month olds were drinking per feeding. Also, the size of your 3mo olds. How big are they? She drinks 6-7 oz per feeding like every 3 hours or so. And she wears (and fits perfectly) 6-9 mo clothes. She is very long too about 28in. I was just curious. She is also almost 20 pounds! Shes not fat because shes long so it works out perfectly. The doc says shes perfect so I was just curious to see where the other 3 months are at

My son is just now 4 months old. He drinks about the same amont every 3 hours or so. My son wears 6-9 months is 20 pounds and is 27 in. His doc also thinks he is just fine since he is getting longer and wider at the same time. My son is exclusively breastfed. Does your daughter get formula or breastmilk or both?
Every baby grows at their own pace! Your baby girl is just perfect and healthy!
My daughter was 8-lbs 2-oz at birth and she is now 6 months and 18-lbs / 25-in long. She is exclusively breastfed and eats every 4 hours about 5-6oz, sometimes the babysitter says she will eat 7oz.
Hi, My daughter just turned 3 months old today and she eats alot! She drinks 6-8 oz per feeding. I can't imagine that her little tummy can hold so much, but it seems to go in one end and out the other. My breasts can't keep up with her feeding (and I have returned to work) so I give her a combination of expressed breast milk and formula. I also put her to my breast whenever I can. It's been a month since she was last weighed and measured but my guess is she is about 13 1/2 pounds and 25-26 inches long.
I'm a first time Mom too, and wondering if she was eating a normal amount. One person suggested we may want to start adding rice cereal to her diet, but I want to exclusively breast feed (with some formula) for the first 6 months.
I was also concerned about my son and how quickly he increased his milk intake. My son is now 12 weeks old, soon to be 3 months and is a BIG BOY as well. He typically will drink 6-7 ounces of formula at each feeding (every 3-4 hours). He's 15 lbs 5 oz and 26" long (approx). He is also wearing 6 month old clothing. The doctor says he's in the 90% of height and weight and that he's healthy.
Please don't give babies solids before 6 months...
All babies eat different amounts. The best way to tell if she is overeating is to check her progress on the infant growth chart. If she is average for height but way off the chart in weight, you may need to talk to a nutritionist, This only applies if you are using formula. Breastfed infants do not follow this rule.
If it makes you feel any better my 2 month old baby girl just graduated up to 6oz. and I beleive she is about 13 lbs or so. She is very long as well. I am following a scale that I got with my formula that guides you on the average amounts and times each age range should be drinking so it sounds like you are right on track but you can always check with your pediatrician.
Wow, my daughter is 6 months old now and only drinks barely 6oz (if I'm lucky) every 3 hours, 5 times a day. She barely weighs 17lbs and fits her 6-9mo clothing with room to spare. AND she's formula fed! I did breastfeed her for 3 months. My doctor actually says she's normal too. I guess it's just different for all babies. I think it's relative to their proportions.
WOW! I wish I could get my three month old to eat that much at each feeding. Mine eats about 5 oz every three hours so I'd love to increase her portions and decrease feedings but she doesn't seem to want it....
My three month old daughter is about 15 lbs but is not as long as yours so that sounds about right...so long as the doctor says its fine, don't worry.
