1. How did you feel when you were asked to be my sponsor?
2. What does it mean to you to be a sponsor?
3. How will you contribute to my Catholic faith as my sponsor?
4. How do you compare this sacrament to the other Catholic sacraments?
So my nephew is to be confirmed next month. For school he has to do a project where he will be interviewing his sponsor. He needs to come up with two questions to ask his sponsor. Any ideas? My SIL said they are coming up blank.......
Thanks!

What is the primary reason you wanted to step up and share your faith with someone?
Is there anything you thought of as unrealistic or particularly challenging about Catholicism when you were my age, that you embrace or have a better understaning of now? What is it?
Catholics are raather notoriously shy about evangilizing. What are some ways a young person can share his faith without automatically isolating himself? Or is that always a risk?
How do you maintain your relationship with God?
Has your faith been tested? What is the best way to get through that?
How has your faith impacted the person you are today?
What do you get out of going to church?
How do you explain your faith when others question it?
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing Catholics today?
What advice can you give me for living a good, Catholic life?
Good luck!
1) How has your Faith been tested during your life? How did you overcome it?
2) What saints have inspired you?
3) What are your favorite prayers? Do you have a favorite place to pray?
4) How do you live out your Faith in your daily life?
5) What Biblical verses help you in tough times?
Hope this helps.
Congratulations to your nephew!!!! I love teaching confirmation classes! I always explain that they are now warriors for Christ. I would ask what is ultimate goal would be for your nephew and how he plans to aid him along the way to get to that goal. I would also ask how God has impacted his life and what would he recommend your nephew do to gain an even stronger relationship with God through this sacrament. I would also ask the sponsor if he has been to confession recently and if he would mind going with your nephew the week before he receives confirmation.
What does it mean to be a Catholic to you?
What is your hope for me after confirmation? Do you hope that I grow closer to God or is it your hope that the teachings I have recieved from the church will give me a strong foundation in my life? Hope that helps. :)
ok, my answer was rude. I guess if you cant say anything nice, you shouldnt say anything at all.
ETA: I misread this as 'communion'. My apologies. While many of these questions really are awesome, I think they are pretty intense even for an older child. I stand by my first question suggestions, although my estimate of the age of your nephew was way off! Congratulations to your nephew. Its a major accomplishment.
Oy vey! These are all awesome but I've got to say, I don't think a 7 year old will understand the questions he's asking, much less the answers!
Maybe he should ask "what's your favorite holiday and why?"
Or
"Which is your favorite psalm and why?"
Congrats!!
I would ask him what his plans are after confirmation? As in how will he continue to show Gods love.
What will/would you tell those a year younger to do to prepare when it's their turn.
When have you seen God active in your life?
Is there a time you have felt persecuted for your beliefs? Tell me about it.
What do you wish you had known at my age?
Why are you catholic?
What do you think about the political environment for Catholics in this day and age?
What was the best advice you ever got regarding your faith?
Why are you still Catholic? What makes you choose to be Catholic today?
When I was working on my Masters Degree in Theology (from a Catholic school) I had to read "Why I am Still Catholic." It was a series of essays written by adult Catholics talking about their faith and why they chose to be Catholic. I was a very powerful experience.
Congratulations to your nephew and family. How about.......
What does our religion mean to you?
As my sponsor, what will you share and teach me about God?
I was happy to see this question today. I just got back from the NCCW (national council of catholic women) conference in Myrtle Beach.
my 2 questions would be
1. how is a sponsor different from a godparent?
2. What is the best part of being catholic?
these are 2 questions that a child would need / like to know the answers to. and they are questions that do not require a yes/no answer so the conversation will go on for a bit.
Thanks ladies, all of these were so helpful. I read them to my SIL and nephew and they also wanted me to pass along my thanks too!
Congratulations to your nephew!
I love this question that Queen of the Castle posted:
How do you live out your Faith in your daily life?
Another question might be:
How does being Catholic impact your daily life?
