Which wine country? Missouri has wine country, France has wine country, you have to be a bit more specific.
Cat I was thinking the same thing. Missouri has amazing wine country with these really neat bed and breakfast. Plus in driving distance.
I haven't been to Napa Valley since my uncle sold his home.
There aren't many hotels in Cali wine country. (although, the last time i was there was in 2007.) You will most likely stay in a b & b. We stayed at Lavender: http://www.lavendernapa.com/ it's in Yountville, which is more centrally located than Napa.
While you are there be sure to go off the beaten path and hit Prager port.
Also, if you get tired of fancy food try Mustard's.
Enjoy!
The Vintner's Inn in Santa Rosa is nice...if you're in Santa Rosa try to eat at Willi's Wine bar -- despite the name and the outside look, the food is amazing, as is the wine. Have a great time!
See this article, my friend from high school owns it with her husband.

They love it!
Hope I'm not too late --The Pink Mansion is a B & B with an outdoor jacuzzi and indoor pool, the best of all worlds, and the best breakfast.
