Hi Moms.
My husband has brought up a topic about our two boys ages 14 and 11 getting California Identification Cards. Any moms out there taken their children to get an CA ID card? What are your thoughts?

My mother had me do it when we lived out there. It came in very handy actually :)
My kids get ID cards at 10 in the military. I think it;s a great idea.
The California ID card can get you pass security in the airport, but not a school ID!
Every teen should have an ID card. Go for it!
I just got one for my 12yo daughter to fly with. It was one paper to fill out and a pic on Monday and the ID was here on Thursday of the same week. It was also handy when they didn't believe she was that age and thought we were lying to ket a kid price somewhere.
I did it for my 4 year old and my 11 year old. They will carry the number for the rest of their lives (they convert to drivers license #) and i thought it would be easier for them to go through airports and such even if I wasn't with them.
I got my 14 year old son, a CA id card, when his 8th grade class took a school trip to Washington D.C. Otherwise, for normal life I don't think
it's needed.
This is a good question, but I wonder why they need them?
I got my older son an ID card when he was 14. He was getting taller, sometimes he flew alone to visit family - it was time. I'm thinking of getting one for younger son in the next few months - after he turns 12.
My 13 year old son needed one last summer when he went to Washington DC with his scout troop. We traveled to Canada this summer and took it with us, but as long as he had his passport and he was with his parents, he really didn't need it.
