Hi Moms,

We live in the Dallas area and would like to rent a cabin over Thanksgiving week. A few years ago, we rented a cabin in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and it was amazing! The problem - all rental cabins are so expensive! (I researched many cabins in different places, and they are all about $150 a night). The one must have is a cabin with a jacuzzi out back. Does anyone know of any rental cabins that are reasonably priced? Thanks!

What can I do next?

We've stayed at Crooked River Cabins in Battiest, OK over Thanksgiving and Christmas - pure heaven. We've also stayed at the Buck and Bass cabin in Hotchatown and it was great as well. Both are located north of Broken Bow and have jacuzzis. Crooked River has their own website while the Buck and Bass is managed by Pine Meadow Cabins. There is also a Hickory Hills Cabins rental group but I've never rented from them.

Another option is to head a short distance over to the Wolf Pen Gap area by Mena, AR. There are several cabins available for rent from very simple to luxurious. We've rented at Cossatot River Cabins which was nice but no hot tub. A google search of the area will turn up several options.

As far as the price goes, I wish I could help you on that as they do get a little pricey. Most of the cabins are privately owned and are managed by a rental group. In order to ensure responsible guests, they try to keep the price a little elevated. Plus, I believe we are heading into high season due to hunting.

Good luck!

Look at some cabins in the Hill Country by San Antonio, Frederickburg, etc. I looked into those awhile back and they weren't that expensive I don't think. I think I just Googled cabin rentals in Texas Hill Country.

Did you go to vacation rental by owner? I would imagine many owner negotiate the price if the duration is longer.

I tried looking into vrbo and it was too expensive when compared to a hotel. Now if we had other people splitting the cost it would make sense.
