Buying New Camcorder

We need a new camcorder and I have no idea where to start. It has to be lightweight, good memory and VERY user friendly. Even more important it has to be easy to transfer from camcorder to computer. My last one was a user friendly device but it was pure torture to get the videos from the device to the computer. I also don't want to spend a fortune.

**after i posted I realized this same question was just asked! I prefer one with an internal hard drive, but would love recommendations on any. Thanks for the advice I read on the other post too!
Do you have a camcorder that you love? What's so great about it? How much did you spend on it? I'd love any advice you have any offer.

Check out the FLIP. It is small, compact, fits right into your computer to download, films in HD too. Between $200-$300.

We have the Flip Video and adore it for reason of portability and the fact that you can pull it out really easily when they start doing something cute, and it fits so easily in your purse....Highly recommend it.

You might not think to look, but Olympus have a small compact lightweight SLR camera which has hi-def vido capability. Gosh, I love this little camera, I am now never without it. For me, it saves on having two doo-dads. Plus it has art filters so that you don't just have to take normal pics, you can add some personality to them in-camera without having to take up time processing photos on the computer.

It is the Olympus PEN and I use the 14-40?mm lens. The video is just amazing. Uses SD cards, so it simple to have a library of them as spares. I love photography, and got sick of the crappy images I would get with the shoot n point, but didn't want to keep lugging around my SLR. It is the world's first micro-SLR.

Good luck on your decision.

I highly recommend a Flip camera, they are cheap and very easy to use. My 4 year old can easily take video. The process of uploading to a computer is a breeze and the quality of the video is great. The HD one is only $150.

Hi there..the Flip is amazing super small..fits in your pocket with USB to dock and transfer easily. Has 2 hrs of memory which we thought would be a problem but so far has not since you tend to record in 2-4 minute segments. We bought the HD hi def one which has absolutely amazing pic quality and sound quality. Another great feature is ability to download into the Flip "share" softwaree which is downloadable for free and email video to friends and family. All for $199.
We and everyone I know that owns a Flip absolutely love it.
Good luck

Yup, I agree. The Flip is super easy, lightweight, and affordable. It is essentially unpack and use. It has a built-in USB that "flips" out to dock right into the computer, so you don't have to worry about finding cords, etc.
