I am looking to buy my little guy a twin mattress and don't know exactly were to start. I know I want a foam mattress that costs between $200-$400. The mattress also has to work on a step2 car bed. If anyone has any suggestions on were to look it would be appreciated.

Costo has the memory foam mattresses on sale right now. I think it's about $200 for a Twin one. We will be getting one for our 2.5 yo when we switch her over to her Big Girl twin bed shortly after the holidays. Wish I would have bought this for my son when we switched him over instead of spending $650 on a regular mattress and springs. Both my kids are potty trained, but they both still have accidents at night occasionally. My sons bed constantly smells like pee even though we have a waterproof mattress protector on it. I will probably be buying 2 of these foam mattresses one for each kid just because I am sick of the constant pee smell in my sons room.

We already have the bedframe for my daughter that has regular wood slats on the bottom same as the frame in my sons room. So as long as your bed has some sort of flat surface or wood slats, the foam mattress should do fine.

I HIGHLY recommend Custom Comfort Mattress. They are a local company with several locations in Orange County. We purchased a latex top mattress from them about 4 years ago and are still completely in love with it; it is by far the best mattress we have ever owned, and will definitely be buying from them again in the future.

We got our son's twin mattress at Sit N Sleep. We originally bought a cheaper one but he broke it jumping on it within a few weeks so we spent a little more - maybe $500 and the mattress is great. We've had it 4 years now and he'll be able to use it for a long time. We have a Little Tykes car bed and it fits great.

Hope this helps!

I recently bought my 4 year old a full size, so I knew it had to last a long time. I went everywhere (kinda convenient because I live close enough to Furniture Row) anyway.....personally I don't think anyone should spend money on a foam mattress unless it is the real "Tempur Pedic", but since you are looking for Twin, which means it doesn't need to last forever....Jerome's has what appears to be a great one for kids that they swear is fabulous. $299

I am SURE you could go in and haggle to no end and get it way cheaper.

Check sams club and costco! We got a great matress at sams club! They also carry stuff online that they dont have in the store. Walmart also does site to store shipping...they might not carry in store but carry in warehouse.

There's lots of good places to buy a new mattress. Be very wary of buying a used one.

I'm a fan of IKEA for matresses.
They tend to have more natural materials in them and fewer chemicals.
It's expensive, but their highest end one is mostly natural latex and wool.
