Does anyone have experience with "Busy Bodies"? Any feedback would be appreciated!
From all I know about their reputation, if you can do it, I would~~
My daughter, Allie, went to Busy Bodies for 9 months when she was in 5th grade. She has a learning disability called dysgraphia. She worked on visual motor integration skills (hand - eye coordination) as well as balance and control. Dr. Strauss' assessments and recommedations for classroom adaptations saved her from the then impossible taking notes from the black board. Allie loved going to Busy Bodies and her abilities improved astoundingly. The techniques for coping with her disability have stuck with her. She is now in 7th grade with no accommodations. Her grades and more importantly, her confidence have shot way up.
The drawbacks were the time commitment, the out of pocket costs, the traffic, and how worn out she would be after each session. There was no way she could stay awake to do her homework on Busy Bodies days.
For our family, it was worth it. She can now do her homework independently without crying. It might not sound like a big deal, but for us it is huge.
Hope this helps,
J.
my daughter has gone there for almost a year and she loves it. they are great with her, it is like a supplement for her OT that she gets 2x per week. They work on gross motor and fine motor skills along with handwritting.
Good luck.
