Burning Inner Wrist Pain, Shooting, No Numbness/tingling, Nerve Conduction Fine

I've been having burning, shooting pain in my inner wrists. No numbness or tingling anywhere including fingers, nerve conduction tests fine in hands. Have to wait til Dec to see the hand specialist. Been wearing braces for the past several weeks. Any thoughts? Carpal tunnel or something else? I do have deQuerven's tendintis on thumbs, and tend to have tennis elbow (lateral epichondilitis). No evidence of carpal tunnel this summer. No injuries. Psoriatic arthritis.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I don't know whether the deQuerven's explains it; I've never had this symptom with it, and the pain doesn't go into the thumb area. I've had PT in the past for the deQ. I just recently got a cortisone injection in my shoulder, and it sent my blood sugar through the rough (329 fasting) so I'm reluctant to get more cortisone shots. Wish I could get in to the hand guy sooner.

acupuncture! Totally helps mine. In between, I get my wrists and neck adjusted and massage therapy too to help.

Does the DQT not explain the pain? That was the first thing that I thought of when I saw your title so if you've already been dx'd with that, I would think that's what it is. Have you had cortisone shots for that? I had it in one hand during one pregnancy and a single cortisone shot cured it and I haven't had any issues since (7 years ago). What has been done to treat the known issues?

Hope the specialist has some answers for you and that you get relief soon.

ETA: have you tried seeing a chiropractor? Most will charge about $99 for the first visit and $30-40 for follow up. It could be nerve pain caused by something in your spine. It might be a long shot, but for relatively short money you could be on your way to feeling well. Most chiros can see you the same day you call. And I agree with TJ that acupuncture may help as well.

Could be a repetitive stress injury from using smart phone... not kidding I've had it. Of course it was made worse by the fact I had infant/toddler twins (had it twice) that I was carrying. Had to get a cortizone shot to make it go away.

Do you use a blackberry or other smartphone a lot, typing with your thumbs? If so, google "blackberry thumb." The thumb doesn't hurt at all but the inner wrists, elbow and up to the shoulder will. It also can be very painful to turn door knobs, turn the key in the car ignition, etc. Basically, it aggravates a joint in the wrist at the very base of the thumb. If that's what it is, the treatment is basically to use anti-inflammatories, ice, and rest form the electronic devices.

Can you go to a different hand guy?

Have you started using a new device or performing a new routine/exercise in the last few months? This sounds exactly like the carpel tunnel i experienced straight out of college in the mid 90's. There was no shooting, no numbness etc. But when i clicked the mouse it was like a knife was being thrust into my wrists. I didn't use a computer or a mouse much in college, so my first tax season using a mouse for 12+ hours per day did me in pretty quickly! It came on very quickly, and was so bad I couldn't even wipe anymore. (i know, tmi, but i'm aiming for context here.) I knew right away it was from the mouse. So I switched to a pad (now found on lap tops) for the rest of the season and the problem hasn't come back in 15 very mouse-intensive use years since.

You need to go see a doctor and take a cup of tea.
