Bunco -- Halloween Food!

October is my month to host Bunco at my house. I am having a couples bunco -- this will be the first time we have ever done a couples bunco, so I want it to be special. It is going to be Halloween themed and everyone is encouraged to come dressed up with their husbands and their will be prizes for the best dressed couple.
But I am having problems with the food .... I can find plenty of desserts that are Halloween/Fall themed, but can't really figure out what to do for the main course. I had thought of serving stew or chili in big pumpkins (I found a recipe for this), but can't think of anything else, and I would hate to make that and it be horrible! ha! Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone ever made stew in a pumpkin before???
I would appreciate any suggestions!! Thank you all!

go to Wegmans.com and check out their Menu Magazines. They have all kinds of fall foods in the fall issues. The archives go back to 2005 so I'm sure you'll be able to find something in there that is easy, nutritious, and visually awesome!

You could always hollow out the pumpkin and pour the already cooked stew in. I'm not sure how its usually done, but that would probably be more of a sure thing that your stew/soup will taste how its supposed to. Cinderella pumpkins tend to be less sweet if you want to make sure you're not adding a sweet taste to something that shouldn't be sweet. You could also do the soup in bread bowls.

Our fall staple is southwest pumpkin soup. Yummy. I had it at a place we love in Fort Worth, but htey wouldn't give me recipe.
So, I Googled it and it was on all of the recipe sites. The only edit I make is I add more jalepenos!
it is warm, hearty, but smooth and a fun thing to serve in small glasses or coffee mugs with a dolop of sour cream and a sprig of cilantro.

I made a pasta dish which included orange peppers and black pasta - if you go to a health food store they have pasta which is dyed black (squid ink, don't worry, you can't taste it). Salad and a pumpkin soup went with it.

I served eyeball candy in dishes on each bunco table.

I found this the other day and thought it was cute...

Take some Italian link sausage and cute into chunks.
Push spaghetti noodles through and boil
Cut the ends off black olives and make eyes
Serve with any red sauce
