Strep! Get her tested. Sounds like Scarlet Fever, My daughter 22 months had had it a few times now...Signs of strep are sandpaper rash over body!
My 11 month old baby has developed a bumpy rash all over her body. It is not red, and there are no symptoms associated with it. Her skin feels like sandpaper, and it is literally covering her legs, arms, back, stomach, and most of her face!! Any ideas to what this could be??
I'm guessing it was dryness. Kept her lotioned up, and the rash disappeared in a few days.

Both of my kiddos had this. It's just super dry skin. The skin is forming little bumps to protect itself. Take care of the moisture, and it'll go away. Lotion right after the bath (sort of pat dry, you want the skin to still be just a little bit damp). Baby oil works well.
It is dry skin or could be a slight irritation in the detergent you are using. I tend to do the dye free allergen free detergent because my son who is 3 was getting bumps all over his body. Once I took care of the detergent problem , I began using a heavy moisturized baby body wash and his skin is silky smooth now.
If it is not a rash from a virus, it is chronic dry skin. I would contact your doctor to rule out strep for sure. My youngest has chronic dry skin as well and it feels like sandpaper. We just bought a tub of Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream from Sam's Club and I noticed a change in my daughter's skin the next day. Her skin actually is starting to feel soft again. This is the only lotion/cream I have found that has worked on my daughter. On the tub it states it is safe for all ages, so I'm sure it would be safe for your little one. You can always ask your doctor before using it too, but it is worth a try if it makes their skin feel better. Best of Luck to you!
Google Keratosis Pilaris. Does it look like that? If so, they outgrow it...nothing really can be done.
My grandson, 2 1/2 has Keratosis Pilaris, which is like what you describe, he also dealt with eczema, but since taking Reliv's KIDS NOW, nutrition for children, his skin has improved greatly over past six months, bumps are still somewhat visible, but much softer and smoother, hasn't had any outbreaks of eczema.
Dry skin? This is the time of year for that. After baths, do you lather lotion on your little one? I do! All the time!
Winter time is so dry and especially when you don't keep the skin moist and hydrated, this can happen. I mean, if she has no fever or you don't think she is sick then i cannot think of what else it could be??
Good luck!
I would take her to the Dr to make sure she's not sick. If not, it sounds like an allergic reaction.
time to call the doctor...
My son had something that sounds similar and his pediatrician described it as something similar to baby acne and said he'd grow out of it. Yes, he tested for strep and other disease, which were negative. If it persists after trying all the moisturizing, it might be the same as what my son had. He grew out of it shortly after his 2nd b-day. I know that amount of time seems like forever but he didn't know he had it so it didn't bother him. It was more that it bothered me.
