I second Dawn's advice - get a second opinion.
I recently cracked the 2nd molar from the back on the bottom and got a crown.
You really don't want to have a tooth pulled if you can avoid it as it will lead to other problems down the road.
Hi All,
I have not had any teeth pulled since I was way younger and don't really remember too much about it...can I drive myself home afterwards? Will I be in pain? Will I need pain medicine?
My last experience was NOT a good one....I had 4 wisdom teeth pulled at once and the dentist dropped one of them down my throat! It was disgusting and scratched up my throat something fierce! Needless to say, I am a bit scared!
Thanks guys!

I recently had a molar pulled and I asked for the happy pill (which I took about 1 hour before I went in), so I had to be both be driven there and back.
I am a big baby when it comes to anything with my teeth. I REALLY liked the happy pill and I made sure I Vicoden for the next few days, as well.
On the upside, I lost a few pounds.
Good luck,
R.
Oh my gosh! If that happened to me I too would be a little freaked out!
My husband had to have the same thing done and he was nervous and has low pain tolerance. They gave him something to calm him. I believe it's what Regina called below a "happy pill" and I had to drive him to/from. They suggested he take the pain med right after, before the anesthesia wore off. I also got him a couple bags of frozen peas.
When I had my 4 wisdom teeth pulled I didn't need the pain meds, just motrin, but I have a higher tolerance for pain. Therefore I'm guessing having a molar pulled wouldn't be as big a deal for me.
Good luck!!!!
I had my wisdom teeth done in 2 visits and I can tell you both experiences were so different. The first I felt so awful for a week after and they gave me percocet(sp?) for the pain and all that did was give me a head ache. The second time was so much easier. I asked for vicodin but I didn't have to take it until just before bed and that was more of a just in case. That same afternoon I finish painting my living room and hall but the first time all I could do was lay on the couch. So I guess Im trying to say it could be different each time and for each person. I had no problem driving my self home both times.
.
Having a regular tooth pulled is muh easier than a wisdom tooth. I had a molar pulled earlier this year and I could not believe that I felt nothing at all....not even a pulling sensation , it took literally a couple of minutes , I drove home afterwards and was given a prescription for pain relief to use if I needed to , I didn't need to use it.
Good luck it will be fine
I had the same thing happen to me about 6 months ago. The dentist did a local anesthetic and i was fine to drive afterwards. Once the numbness went away I was in pain for about 2 days but not as bad as getting wisdom teeth pulled. They will probably give you vicodin. I only had to take some the first two days and then I was fine.
I would plan to have someone take you and drop you off just in case.
It is so much better than it used to be.
Call ahead and ask them if they think you will need to be driven home.
I have not needed to be driven home..
I doubt you will need a driver. You'll be OK. After having a baby, having a tooth pulled is baby food.
