So my due date was Dec 27, now they are saying Jan 1, since Id really hate to miss out on an extra $1000 + in tax rebate $, Id really like to have this baby before the 1st.... anyone have any tips. Ive tried to talk them into inducing me, but of course they are hemming and hawing about it. My dd was 2 wks overdue, with her I tried eating pineapple, eating spicy food, having sex, even drinking castor oil (yuck!)- i still had to be induced. Other than lots of walking, anyone know anything that can bring on labor? I feel like Im gonna explode if this baby gets any bigger!

What can I do next?

you need to do things that stimulate the uterus - which includes orgasms, nipple stimulation, etc. You can double your efforts by doing some of that with your husband and some by yourself. ;o)

Get down on your hands and knees and scrub the kitchen floor. I know that sounds weird. you don't have to actually scrub the floor, just get in the position and pretend like you are doing it. Something about these movements will get your labor started. It has worked for every woman in my family. When I decided I was ready for my son to get here, I did that one night and he was born by 3:00 the next afternoon. Worth a try! Good luck!

When my first one was 2 weeks late the nurses suggested nipple stimulation and orgasms. They said it encouraged the body to release progesterone, which plays a big role in labor.

I went in labor on the table with 2 of my 3 during a pelvic exam. They dont want to examine you that late, for that very reason. I told them I was spotting so they agreed to look and both times it threw me into labor.

My nail tech wouldn't let me use the vibrating foot massager because she said they have been known to induce labor - so buy a foot massager.

Also I've read nipple stimulation works.

I read about this eggplant parmigiana when I was pregnant with my first. http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/recipe?id=6877112

"Nearly 300 baby pictures decorate Scalini's old-fashioned Italian restaurant in Cobb County, Ga.

All of the babies pictured on the Italian restaurant wall were born after their mothers ate the Scalini's eggplant parmigiana. The $9.95 plate of breaded eggplant smothered in cheese and thick marinara sauce is "guaranteed" to induce labor, the restaurant claims.

The eggplant legend began not long after the restaurant opened 23 years ago.

"Two or three years after we began, a few people had just mentioned to us they came in when they were pregnant, and ate this eggplant and had a baby a short time after that," said John Bogino, who runs the restaurant with his son, Bobby Bogino. "One person told another, and it just grew by itself by leaps and bounds."

To date, more than 300 of the pregnant women customers who ordered the eggplant have given birth within 48 hours, and the restaurant dubs them the "eggplant babies." If it doesn't work in two days, the moms-to-be get a gift certificate for another meal."

Massage the perineaum, have a huge storm front come through your region (the barometric low will actually influence women to go into labor), and then all the other stuff you did before. My first had to be induced, my second was a week and a half early.
Good luck to you!

Have your membranes stripped! It's a bit uncomfortable, but totally worth it when you're desperate to be delivered. They should be able to do this once you are 37 weeks (full term). This worked for me with my second (37 weeks) and third (38 weeks). Both times, I was in labor the same evening. With my second, I started contracting as I was walking out of the OB's office, contracted all day with increasing intensity and my water broke that night at about 10:30 pm. I was 3 cm when I got to the hospital. With my third, I had been dilated to 3cm and had been experiencing non-productive contractions for weeks. I had an OB visit when I was 38 wks. 0 days. I asked for my membranes to be stripped and I definitely felt stronger contractions throughout that day and evening. I woke up at about 2:00 in the morning, knowing it was time. When I got to the hospital, I was 7 cm. The OB broke my water about 2 hours later and he was born 30 minutes after that. Best wishes!

Most of the things that people will list can bring on contractions but not actual labor. So then you get to the hospital, stabilized, and they send you home.
