I'm in Texas and my friend is getting married in Maryland. I'm in the wedding and want to be involved as much as possible as I've known my friend for over 27 years. My husband and I have talked and we decided that I would fly to Maryland for the bridal shower or the bachelorette party. Would it be overstepping if I asked the other bridesmaids and the bride if we could try to schedule the shower and the bachelorette party on the same weekend so I can attend both? The last thing I want to do is make these events about me, but I want to be a part of it.

What can I do next?

I would get with her maid of honor and see what the tentative plans are and let her know you are trying to figure out your plans. Be sure to have an idea of how this could work out. I'm thinking shower Saturday afternoon and bach. party that evening? If they already have plans get with your friend and ask her which it would be more important to her to have you at... Have fun!

Ask her!!! That would be great if they could make it all in one weekend. The only thing I can see that would make it impossible is the expense of having both in the same weekend. Some of the Bridesmaids might not be able to afford it.

You never know!

One of my bf's sister just got married. We're in AZ and her sister's in WA. She was the Maid of Honor. She flew to WA Friday, on Saturday had the shower in the mid-morning and the Bachelorette Party that night. They were able to spend Sunday relaxing and flew out that night.

I don't think you'd be making it all about you. You just want to be part of the group. Just ask!

When my first friend got married we did just that. We had her shower Saturday afternoon and went out for her bachelorette party that night. It is hard enough to get everybody together once so we figured why not do it all in one day. The weekend was a blast. Some of us got together on Friday to get ready for the shower and were together until Sunday recooperating and relaxing! Good luck and have fun. :)
