I'm 34 weeks and found out that my baby is breech. My Dr says that he may still turn, but I've also read that babies typically settle into position between 32 and 34 weeks. Other than seeing a Chiropractor are their any success stories out their about getting your babies to turn?

Mine just turned all on her own. They told me she was breech at 36 and then at 38 she wasn't. Don't give up hope yet!

You will think this is as crazy as I did but my son turned so it is worth a try. I laid on the floor with three pillows under my butt and my feet up on the back of my sofa. My mid wife told me to try the pillows and propped feet and with in a week of doing that for an hour three times a day he turned. Earlier the doctors had tried to turn him and I would not suggest that. They turned him twice and he just kept flipping back not to mention how bruised up I was and it started contractions. Two weeks later I delivered him naturally and had no complications. Good luck. I never heard of going to a Chiropractor but I would be leery if he is going to turn him.

Hi sweetie, try not to worry lots of babies turn at the last minute. My last one now 29, lol turned within 8 hours of delivery. Her last baby 3 yrs ago was breech at 34 weeks & we laugh about it now but we went on a jeep ride & 4 days later when she went for her checkup he was in position. There are exercises you can do that will help as well as taking pressure off you. One that I remember is get on hands & knees lower your chest to the floor with rear in the air let your tummy just sag & relax stay that way for several min. contract your stomach as often as you can also do Keegle exercise in this postion it will help. God Bless you & may you have a wonderful & easy delivery.

With the aid of anesthesia I gave birth to a breech baby and did just fine. She was healthy and normal. Her legs would flip up to her shoulders unless I swaddled her. I didn't have any problems after the first couple of days' soreness. But this also is a judgement call by your doctor. I was built to give birth.

Your doctor could try to do an external version when you go into the hospital, it is risky and could still end up in an emergency c-section. Your baby could also still turn on his/her own.

All four of my babies wait until the very last minute to turn. My midwife did physically turn one, but the others I spent with my bottom half on an incline with a bag of fozen veggies. My first son waited and turned around 39 weeks. Good Luck!!

the baby can still turn! My baby turned breech WHILE I was in labor - and my water had already broken - I ended up with an unexpected c/section...

I have friends whose babies turned right before they delivered - you still have time!

Hi M.!

My baby was breech when they thought she should have turned and my midwife told me to rock on my knees and elbows, after mealtimes when the baby was awake, to help her out with gravity / ability to move more freely. I did it after dinner while I watched TV. I don't know if it was that or what, but she turned and all was well! :)

Both my friend and I had babies that were breech and turned within the last couple of weeks. I think I was 36 or 37 weeks when mine turned head down. We had my c-section scheduled, but as soon as he turned (you'll know!) we crossed off the c-section and had a normal vaginal birth! Good Luck!

Hi M.,
Please take a look at www.spinningbabies.com website. If you go to the techniques page it has three methods to help with breech. Having your head down with all the extra blood that you have now can be very uncomfortable. But these methods do work. A friend of mine also swam she did little duck dives up and down the pool where her head was lower than her feet after two trips to the pool the baby moved. It aslo didn't feel as uncomfortable.

I dont know where you live but Dr Cindy Haggerton a chiro who specializes in the webster technique, is @ family lifetime wellness center in Hurst she would love to help. She is also a doula and training to be a midwife.

Good luck

One last resort if the baby doesn't turn there is one dr in the metoplex who will support you in a vaginal birth as long as you are a normal healthy mom. He is an amazing Dr who's mother grandmother were midwives. He is extremely quietly confident and has seen and helped deliver babies in all positions breeches to twins in unusual positions.....Dr's these days are not ever taught how to deliver breech babies at school. Dr Cummings at Denton Pres is incredible. He supports whatever birth you are hoping for water births, little to no intervention and his rates of c section is really really low..... If you have any concerns that your dr I know it is really late in the pregnancy but it may not hurt just to go visit with Dr C. I moved to Keller when I was 36 weeks pregnant with my first. I had visited and picked out a caregiver but over the next 4 weeks I truly knew that I was not totally comfortable with my choice. Long story short my first birth was not the best experience. I know looking back I was scared to look around because I was so close to the end but i truly wish I had know about Dr C.

Anyway M. good luck.... one last thing I am not sure if this is your first baby. If so they can turn later then subsequent babies ... they say that mentally believing that the baby will turn helps and belly breathing where you take long breathes in thru your nose while expanding your tummy... breathing into your tummy can help loosen things up.

My 8 yr old was breech and did not turn. I ended up havein a c-section. I dont have any advice on how to get your baby to turn but I did want to let you know that the baby will be ok. We had to double diaper my daughter for a month to make sure her hips were set correctly and that was it. She is now one of the most limber kids I have seen and is in cheerleading. I often tell her being breech made her the cheerleader she is. HAHA.

Good luck on the birth and congrats.

My daughter was breech and my sister in law suggested accupuntor to get baby to turn. I have heard of this before. I did not do it, and good thing I didn't becuase once they got in there with the c-section they noticed my uterus was shaped like a glove and there was no way the baby could have turned anyway. But if you want maybe acupuctur is the way to go. Good luck!

Mine isn't a success story on turning but it is a success story. It was determined at week 36 that my baby was breech. We schedule a procedure where the doctor tried to turn the baby with not success since my baby was wedged up under my ribs. We scheduled a c-section at week 38 which went great. I now have two beautiful children, both delivered by c-section, and have never felt labor pains. My recovery was also great. Whether you baby turns or not, the wonderful and healthy birth of your child is a success story. I have no regrets of never going through labor. Good luck.

Are you just against chiropractic? I have seen babies turn easily just before birth with the Webster technique, usually between 80-85% of the time they turn the first time. So, you're not set on having a breech baby or c-section! Here's an article from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association that you may find helpful. http://www.icpa4kids.org/research/pregnancy/webster.htm
If your OB has scared you from going to a chiropractor, I would also encourage you to use this website as a research tool to educate yourself on the pure benefits of chiropractic during pregnancy, not only for you but for your baby. Many OB's are just ignorant on the subject and just defer to scare you away of more natural interventions. Any questions you have on the subject, please feel free to contact me directly. God Bless!

Yes, lots! While I cannot give medical advice over the internet, I urge you to question your HCP about this. I am a CPM, I rarely see a breech birth, because I can usually get babies to turn, with safe natural means. 1st off there is an exercise you can do, which usually works, called the Breech Tilt exercise. If your HCP doesn't know about this, change providers to one who does! If the exercise alone doesn't work, I next recommend seeing a Chiropractor who is familiar with the Websters Technique (not all are). Many Chiropractors also do acupuncture, which is another way to encourage a breech baby to turn. A DC visit would be well worth your money! There are so many other "tricks" you can safely do at home to help the baby turn, your HCP, should be helping you learn about them. Doing a cephalic version is my last resort because it is the most risky way to turn a breech, but still prefereable to resorting to surgery,(IMHO)
BTW, the Websters technique is good for turning all types of malpresentations, not just breech.
I would never give up hope of baby turning and schedule a C/S. I have had babies turn up to 42 wks gestation, and even during labor!
