So yesterday we found out we are expecting baby #4! We are very excited. I am still nursing my 15 month old. I am looking for a few personal stories if you don't mind.

1)At what point in your pregnancy did you notice your nipples getting sore?
2)How long did it take for the pain to subside?
3)Did it ever become unbearable that you decided to wean?
4)Did your baby self-wean during pregnancy?
5)If so, did your baby resume nursing once the new baby arrived?
6)When did your milk dry up, if ever?
7)Is there anything about nursing while pregnant you truly hated?
8)Is there anything about nursing while pregnant you truly loved?
9)Is there anything you wish someone had to you about?
10)Anything else you want to add?

Thanks so much for sharing your personal stories! I will be purchasing "Adventures in Tandem Nursing" shortly. I hear a lot of questions are answered in that book.

I also want to add a quick note that I am aware some people are led to believe that a woman MUST wean while pregnant, but this is completely untrue. The only time that it could pose a problem is if you are high risk for miscarriage or pre-term labor, neither of which apply to me, so please no advice on the matter. We are very comfortable with our decision to not forcibly wean our baby if he isnt ready. All supportive advice is welcome! :)

Thanks ladies!

So What Happened?

My son self weaned at 17 months! We lost our baby at 17 weeks, which was about a month after Andy weaned. Our pregnancy loss was unrelated to breastfeeding.

I nursed my now 3 year old up until the very day her brother was born. I had no problems until the last couple days when I noticed that my nipples are black and bruised. I did stop nursing my daughter the day my so Teddy was born, all my son wants to do is nurse all the time. He is now 18 pounds.

All I know, is that I've met a couple of women in my baby group that continued nursing their toddler throughout their entire second pregnancy with no ill effects. I say go to it, and just make sure you take care of yourself in the process. Love and blessings

I am currently nursing my 9 1/2 month old while 7 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. My nipples have only been really sore these last couple of weeks. And there are no signs of it letting up. Someone I talked to had sore nipples until the 7th month. It does hurt, but it's not that bad to wean. I also am a LLL attendee, not a member yet. They mentioned that there is a drop in milk production at 20weeks. I'm not there yet, so I can't comment on that part. Good Luck
