Hello! my daughter recently started attending a new day care with a few other infants. she is 7 months old and breastfed. she has been taking the bottle (of b-milk) for many months now..she will even take one from me. typically she will never drink a whole bottle, but just a few ounces at a time in order to "get by" until i get home.
however, she will NOT take the bottle from her new babysitter. she is also a nursing mother and i think that has something to do with it....perhaps babies can sense these things??
i am concerned b/c she is hungry during the day and VERY fussy. she will eat some food..but is not filling herself up enough. as a result , she is not sleeping well for her naps and she is just cranky!

any advice?

What can I do next?

I have two thoughts - would she take a sippy cup with breastmilk in it from the babysitter?

Also, contact a La Leche League leader in your area - they may have lots of suggestions.

You are right about babies smelling milk on women - even at 7 months pregnant, my new nephew could smell my milk. Those noses are wondrous!
Good luck!

Is she heating the milk to the right temperature? Using the "right" bottle? My bf kids were very particular when taking a bottle- it had to be just the right temperature, and they would only take it from certain bottles. Make sure your sitter is doing the same things you do when you give her a bottle.

When you get back, will she take that same bottle from you?

I had a similar problem with my baby boy when I went back to work. After about a week or two, he came around and started to take the bottle. I think it was just the change that was affecting him. Here's my request: http://www.mamasource.com/request/12005873339194146817
