Can you tan in a tanning bed while you are breastfeeding? I am in a wedding in May and really need to get some color before summer. I normally hate tanning beds but I can not be this pale.

What can I do next?

My doctor said it was okay, but I was still too afraid to risk it and just stayed white. They say it's fine.

I have psoriasis and use a medical UV light therapy as part of my treatment- basically a tanning bed with special bulbs. There is no problem with breastfeeding. Just make sure you don't burn your nipples!

I have 3 girls, and I tanned and nursed all of them and they are fine. I would sometimes cover my breast with a towel just so I didn't get burned and then have to nurse. OUCH! I always felt better to tan after having a baby because fat looks better when it's tan!

YES you can!! I asked this same question with both of mine and I did it DAILY while nursing them and it does not hurt the milk. I am having another baby in about 5 weeks and as soon as I physically feel like getting in one, I will--and I plan on nursing too. So go for it!! :)

There are other ways of getting a tan. There are creams. There are spray on tans. These work and would be perfect for someone in your position.

I had the same dilemma while I was nursing last summer before a family reunion. I decided to go with the spray-on tan that the tanning salon offered, and I just covered up my chest. It was quick and easy, and I felt good about it. The color was very good, and it lasted about 10 days.
