Looking for some feedback on going back to work. My daughter is 4months old. She goes to bed usually around 7pm and will sleep good. My problem is she wakes up anytime between 1:30 and 4:30. Not working it has been no big deal but I am wondering if there is a way to have her be more consistent with waking...I would normally feed her and put her back to bed. She would then sleep until 7-7:30 to start her day. I will need to leave the house at 6:30am. She is strickly bf, have not started cereal yet. I am thinking this may regulate once that starts? I was trying to hold off on cereal until closer to 5 or 6 mo old. I am holding the mind set of even if I have to get up at crazy times before going to work, it is only temporary and I really don't mind because I have found bf to be so wonderfully rewarding!!

Hi rachel.
My son is 4 months and I just went back to work this past monday. I also EBF my son. He was getting up every 2 hours! We decided to let him cry a bit. We started with 5 minutes and then increased to 7. it has only taken 4 nights. He goes to bed at 7:30, wakes at 1:30 to eat, and sleeps until 6:30. Good luck with everything.

I think you may just have to stick this one out. Trust me, you'll get used to it.

The other suggestion about getting her up for a feeding before you go to bed is a good one, too.

you are right, breastfeeding is SO rewarding and this little bit of a glitch in time will be long forgotten. Good for you for doing this and sticking to it! Awesome momma.

you can try nursing her around 10:30-11:00 just before you go to sleep even if just on one side it might get her to go to the 5:00-6:00 and then you can get out of the house on time and daycare would then give the next feeding. the most important thing is to try and be flexible, the schedule will change as they grow. another suggestion is if you are time from having to get up at night try to get to bed around 8 or 9 and have your signifigant other do the next feeding so you get a good stretch in. hope this helps!

You will find what works for you... for me (I have 2 kids, youngest is 14 months) I continued to nurse them at night until they were ready to drop that with some minor encouragement -- even after returning to work. I figured that they got less breastmilk because I was working, so I might as well give them a bit of extra at night if they wanted it. My daughter started consistently sleeping through around 12 months of age and it makes a huge difference to me. But I think your attitude is a good one - it's only temporary and they'll be big before you know it. Enjoy!
