Breastfeeding and B.O.?

Ok, a little embarrasing, but I figured if anyone knew anything about this, it would be you guys. Here goes...
I have been breastfeeding my baby for almost 7 months now, and for the last couple of months I have had really bad armpit b.o. It's really embarrasing and I have to carry around extra deodarant with me in the diaper bag, because it could hit at any moment. It's worse when I wear a tank-top, but it still happens with regular shirts too. I have tried switching deodarant, but nothing seems to help. I'm figuring it's just my hormones changing, but I was wondering, has anyone else experienced this while breastfeeding? Any advice? These are the deodarants I have tried:
degree, suave, secret, dove
Thanks so much!

Hi Bethany,

I BF'd also for over three months (just starting to wind down) and also noticed some stinky BO. Worse still, Id use Lavender scented Secret, so I smelled like a stinky flower. :-) If you want to try a stronger deodarent, try Mitchem for women. ITs really good at stopping the stink, but it carries a higher concentration of aluminium (I think), so it may also may clog your sweat glands. I wish I had a better suggestion for you - I ended up not raising my arms very much.

Good luck!!

Hi Bethany,
I have also been breastfeeding for 6 months and I too have had this same issue, I usually don't sweat much but since I have been nursing I have noticed an increase. I am sure it's just the hormones or something. I am planning on talking to my Dr about this to see if there is an explaination, maybe you should do the same?
I found this site, http://www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/symptoms-and-soluti...

Pretty interesting... well take care and good luck! :0)

Try any kind of sport deadorant but my suggestion would be teen spirit sport. Teens tend to sweat more especially when they play sports so this is a higher concentrated deoderant. Personally I haven't had this problem but I know that deoderant have worked for others.

I've had this issue and the ONLY thing that's helped me is the secret or degree prescription strength that they now sell over the counter. The deodorant is like $7-$10 for one, but it really does work and you are supposed to use it at night before you go to bed (though I use mine during the day and that works for me).

my BO changed with pregnancy as well. I used mitchum and it works great. I have used the gel kind and the soft solid with great results. I am not self- conscious able anymore

I have to watch my tank top wearing now! lol. My mom said she had a cousin with the same problem and the only thing that worked for her was arm and hammer. So I saw they now have a deoderant. I prefer the roll one. It works pretty good.
