I am scheduled to have a breast reduction in June and am looking for advice/experiences from women who have had this procedure. I am currently a 42F and plan to reduce down to a C cup. I have two kiddos 6yrs and 2yrs. My 6yo is going on a two week vacation with my parents during that time and my 2yo will be with my other parents in San Antoino so I should have at least two weeks to have the surgery and recover as much as I can before they come back home.

How long did it take you to be able to get around/lift a 2 year old? How long until I would be able to get back in the pool? Of course my Dr has answered these questions but I want some real life answers. :)

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I had mine over 5 years ago and I didnt have any kids at the time. But it took me just over a full week to be able to lift my arms above my head without any pain. I would treat it like a c-section. When the 2 year old gets back only lift him when necessary, like into the carseat, crib, highchair, etc. Otherwise let him come to you until you are ready. If you take it very easy the first week you will be able to do more as time goes by. Good luck! It will be worth it.

Not sure I would lift your child after the surgery. I had the surgery done 10 years ago and loved the results. I loved that I could look down and see my feet. It will take a long time till you feel comfortable giving hugs as well since that area will be so tender and sensitive. You might have some numbness for quite a while, depends on the type of reduction that they do. I had the anchor shape surgery where they cut from your side of your breast to the sternum then they removed the nipple, sucked out all the fat, then they sewed the nipple back on and voila I was a new person. Of course having my son changed that and now I am back to a large breasted woman again. I loved my results and wouldn't change a thing.

I had mine 9 years ago and I don't remember the exact timeline. I am happy with the results but a C can feel quite small when you are use to an F. I was also surprised with how my nipples looked afterwards - seemingly small and very frankenstein-esque. They have healed quite well and I am happy now, just thought I should warn you. The recovery was more intensive than I expected. If possible, I would try to arrange for someone to help you at home. I was appreciative to have help preparing food, showering, etc. On a sidfe note, I had a miscarriage when my daughter was a little younger than 2 and couldn't lift her. You'll discover how much s/he can do - climbing into the carseat shouldn't be a problem. Congratulations on taking this step. Soon you can find bras/clothes that fit, not have persistent back pain and have less perves oogling your boobs!

Definitely follow your doctor's advice regarding healing and down time. Anytime you overdo after a procedure, it drags things out.
I have a friend who had this procedure many years ago and it helped her back and shoulder problems immensely.
From the outside looking in, the only problem I saw was that she thought having a breast reduction meant she no longer needed to wear a bra. Ever.
Well, we are pushing 50, and as much as I love her, I have to say that gravity has not been kind to her boobs.
They may be smaller, but in my opinion, a good bra is still really important.

I wish you the best. It is pretty painful from what I know, but well worth it in the end.

Be sure to take good care of yourself.
