I breast feed my daughter who is now 2 and 1/2 months old and I have just started back to work twice a week, but I work 12hour shifts. I have recently noted that she is eating less when feed by bottle on the days I work. She was taking 4oz with each feed and now she is taking 2-3oz sometimes and her full 4 oz other times. She has already doubled her birthweight so I am not concerned about that I am more concerned with my milk supply because now I seem to be making less when I pump. I know the tricks to increase my supply but is this normal for a 2month old. She also seems to be napping more than usual on the days she is with me and less on the days she stays with other people. Any one been through this?

What can I do next?

My daughter is 8 1/2 months old and I am still nursing her. Fortunately my job allowed me to leave every 2-3 hours to nurse her, so pumping was more of an option than something that I needed to do. However, pumping even without producing a lot of milk will increase your supply... just the stimulation alone will help. I personally wouldn't monitor the amounts of milk she drinks, AS LONG AS she is steadly gaining weight. My daughter has never had a set amount that she drank. She would drink what she wanted at that time. As far as the less naps on the days you work, she is probably sleeping less because she is around different people and different situations, which in turn create more stimulation for her. My daughter did this... and eventually leveled out. I do believe it is just a phase or growth spurt. If you ever have any questions about nursing... please feel free to email me ____@____.com and I will try to help. I am no breastfeeding doctor, but sometimes another mom who went through the same things is all you need. Just try not to stress about it... I know for a fact that frequent stress alone can also decrease your supply. Just monitor her weight and keep pumping... the rest just doesn't matter! :-) Good luck!

Hello
I to work 2 days a week and i am a nurse but anyway, i just now stopped breast feeding my 5 month old due to loss of interest on his part. Anyway, if you keep pumpin even if your supply seems low just pump. As you know that is how your milk supply keeps producing. As long as she is gaining weight i wouldn't worry. As far as the naps she may be in one of those many growth spurts and she will sleep more. My child is the opposite he sleeps less with me and more with my husband. It is funny how that works.
Anyway good luck

I think she is fine. One of the greaet things about babies is that they know what they want. I am sure if she wants to et more she will let you know. Just keep your supply up, and keep your head up. It is just a positive thing that you are nursing her!
