For those who breast feed their babies, do you continue to take a prenatal vitamin? Is there a different type of vitamin you would need?

What can I do next?

Yes, like everyone else so far, my OB told me to continue my prenatal vitamins throughout breastfeeding.

My daughter's midwife recommended that she continue to take prenatal vitamins. They have extra in them that helps your baby to continue to grow and mature.

I did, but I started thinking that there must be some post-natal vitamin that would be more suitable. I found them at FairHavenHealth.com. I take two each day; my baby is two years old and still nurses at my breast.

I was really good about continuing to take them with my first three, but this time around, I don't take them at all. I tried to remember for the first couple months and after that, I gave up. My baby is 9 mos now and my milk supply hasn't been affected by not taking them- she is also thriving in the 100th percentile for height and 78th for weight. I'm sure it helps to take the vitamins, but it hasn't hurt me to not take them either.

YES keep taking them PLUS a DHA or fish oil vitamin is recommended, I used Expecta AND don't forget all young women need to always take calcium to prevent osteoperosis and when you're pregnant or nursing your food based calcium is going to baby not you!

I tried really hard to remember, and did for the first 4 months or so. Now I'm about 3 times a week.
