I need breakfast options for a 1 year old. He is having 5 oz of whole milk and quaker with apple sauce and he really likes it... He used to have a toast instead but he doesn't like it anymore... What easy and quick other options can you suggest me??? Thanks!

What can I do next?

there is a fantastic (and healthy)food called mochi. You can get it at a health food store http://www.grainaissance.com/mochi.html
you can bake them and when they puff add some jelly or almond butter inside
smoothie filled with greens and fresh fruits

cereal bars broken into pieces
yogurt
diced skinless apple
diced oranges
diced banana
diced grapes (this is one of my son's favorites)
grits
scrambled eggs
diced hard boiled egg
diced sausage links
diced bacon
diced toaster waffles
diced micro pancakes
(I make a double batch of pancakes/waffles when I make them, then freeze the extra for normal noncooking mornings)
I have a 2 pair of kitchen scissors and use them to cut up just about everything for my 13 month old.

Great suggestions from everyone....I just have one tip to make it all work great..especially the bread type products (french toast, toast, pancakes, english muffins, etc)....have a PIZZA CUTTER you love!

I do home daycare and use several pizza cutters thru the day to cut sandwiches and toast and all sorts of things into just the right bite sized pieces in a quick-fast motion...and I am prepping for several kids all at once. My pizza cutters are a valuable tool to my meal prep time for little ones!

By the way, my USDA Sponsored food program (sorta like the school lunch program, but for daycare), requires a grain product and a fruit/veg item for breakfast and liquid milk. So for us its cereal/toast/oatmeal/eng muffin/pancakes, etc...along with at least one fruit (I never do juice here..but it is allowed..I figure they all get enough juice at home).

When I do pancakes, waffles or french toast for that age, I put applesause, not syrup on it...or a slim bit of jelly. Syrup just seems to get too messy!

I save egg meals for lunches here.

Good luck!

Here is what mine loved
scrambled eggs with a LITTLE bit of sharp cheddar shreds and meatless breakfast sausage or turkey breakfast sausage
Cheerios (in milk) with fresh fruit
cut up bannana/strawberry/other fresh fruit & yogurt
french toast sticks (eggo brand) and yogurt/applesauce
baby pancakes with apple sauce (no syrup) or yogurt
I changed it up between these things mostly I also make to this day a wheat tortilla with "mexican blend" cheese (2%) sprinkled with fresh baby spinach (just a bit cut up) and scrambled eggs folded into a quesadilla and use a pizza cutter to make the peices small enough depending on age.

I like to gibe my son fruit for breakfast: canteloupe, honey dew, pineapple, apples, bananas, etc. Can your 1 yo handle cut up fruit salad? Or dip pieces into fruit dip? Morning is the best time to eat fruit--on an empty stomach.
Also what about a waffle, pancake, toast with jam or peanut butter, scrambled eggs and hash browns, over easy egg....

The following I prep and keep in a big plate or bowl, then dish some out onto a plate a little at a time so she doesn't completely inhale it.

Pancakes! Can stir in banana, berries and/or applesauce. Favorite (admittedly messy) activity is dipping pancake pieces into a yogurt and applesauce mixture.

cubed cheese, avocado, toast or other bread (muffin), fruits

Quesadilla (egg n cheese, spinach and cheese, avocado!, meats and cheese, mild salsa inside)

French toast

smoothie

Super easy egg dishes: Matzoh Brei, Chilaquiles :)

Other hot cereals with fruit stirred in (Multigrain one from Trader Joes cooked then blended, Cream of Rice)

Other hot cereal - Wheatena, other multigrain cereals.

Cold cereal with milk and fruit (we do whole grain Os and squares)

French toast (we make it with whole wheat bread on weekends and make enough to freeze for weekday breakfasts - rewarm in the toaster).

Pancakes (The NY Times Minimalist column had some great whole grain and fruit recipes a few weeks back). We make them again on weekends and freeze for weekdays.

Yogurt with chopped fresh fruit.

English muffins with scrambled eggs and avocado.

We generally do one of the above and then 1-2 servings of fruit (or vegetables) apple sauce, pears, bananas, berries, peaches, nectarines, persimmons (in season), kiwis, avocados, grapefruit (DS loves the red ones).

Cut-up bananas
Bagel with cream cheese or butter or peanut butter
Smoothies with a straw (instant hit!)
Scrambled eggs
Apple slices (if you cut them the night before, you can dip them in salt water and they'll stay white and crisp)
GORP (dry cereal, crackers, banana chips, raisins, etc mixed up together)
Quesadilla
Pancakes, waffles, french toast (especially great if they're made earlier and just popped in the toaster)

Good luck!

Paula Deen makes omelets in a bag. You can whip up the eggs ahead of time and put them in a bag and then it is a matter of adding them to boiling water for 5-8 minutes. You can put whatever you want in with the egg depending on what your child eats.

Here is the link to the recipe:

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/omelette-fo...

I did this for a brunch after church with family it was fun and easy because everyone could make their eggs however they wanted.

Peanut butter and jelly on whole grain toast (open faced)
Pumpernickle and cream cheese
Yogurt (that is generally for lunch)
life chex & almond milk (or regular milk)

Those are big favorites in our house - right now it is "life chex & almond milk" every chance she can get.
