Considering getting a brazillian wax for a "special occasion" but haven't had one in 7+ years since my kids...now I am plus sized. Where my dilema begins...any other plus sized moms get waxed down there? Hmm..wondering if I should just do my own maintenance or leave it to a professional...don't want to embarassas myself or gross out the lady assigned to wax me. Hmmm.

What can I do next?

I wouldn't worry about "grossing" her out - it's what she does for a living. I'm sure she's seen every size and shape of woman - and really - when push comes to shove - they are all pretty much the same. :-)

My waxer - when I went to get my first brazillian - told me she'd been doing it for 14 years - that's a long time and a lot of who-ha's - I doubt anything would shock or disgust her.

Good luck.

I've been getting waxed for over 10 years, and with the same place for 9 of those, because I love love love L.! (But have used other people on her vacations, when I'm not here, etc.). After 9 years, we talk a LOT. Waxers wax 8 hours a day and see thousands of clients in a single year (don't go to somewhere that person's job is waxing AND whatever). They've seen EVERYTHING, and don't care, as long as you're not on your period / have a yeast infection/ crabs.

So there ya go... people go to waxers bleeding with bloody mats in their hair, with foul smelling chunky discharge draining out of them, and with parasites falling off them.

Don't you feel better now? Grossed out, probably, but oh so much better?

Even the grossest of the gross? Pro waxers (like L) aren't "ewww gross" sneering about them. It's just matter of fact, "Oh yeah, you know some women don't know what a yeast infection is or what crabs look like, so I've had to refer some clients to their OB/Gyn. Poor things. I would be SO embarrassed, so you just make sure they know it's not their fault, and reschedule with the desk saying they got a call for a family emergency, and we hadn't started yet, and no one knows but me."

Go to a pro.

I am so glad you asked this! I have wondered the same thing for years, but have always been too shy to ask (even on Mamapedia) lol.

Do it!! The person is a professional and Im sure theyve seen a lot! Its their job and if they dont like doing it or if they get grossed out then they need to find another job! You are paying them for a service! Go get it done girl! :-)

Funny you should ask this - I just got back from my waxing appointment a few minutes ago! I am not plus-sized in terms of my clothing size, but I am 6' tall, so I'm not a small person no matter how you look at it. Here's the thing. If you go to a place where all they do is waxing (if there's a European Wax Center near you, they use high-quality wax, do a great job, and work REALLY quickly), they have seen it all. As I waited to check in this morning, a plus-sized lady was leaving. There was even a man checking out! Hey, if the waxing ladies aren't flipped out by a man having some manscaping done, there is no way they would think twice about someone who is plus-sized. They are professionals, and see all kinds of bodies all day long. I was sort of concerned the first time I went in after having kids, because I know my girl parts probably don't look the same down there as they did pre-kids. But my waxing lady was saying that most of her clients are moms. Seriously, she seems completely unfazed by getting right in there and getting the job done, god bless her. I always leave her a good tip! ;)

I would NOT shave first---too much irritation. Go for it. She's paid to be grossed out. Lol.
