My daughter is 11, and now wanting a bra. We tried SO many different online bra calculators and they ALL came up different. Her Band Is about 27 and her bust is about 30. What size bra is she and also, what brand do you moms recommend most?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well we took her to JCP, and I had measured her wrong and we got a bra that fits her well. Thanks for the help.

The sizing seems impossible at this age - we just bought sports bras - they can pull over her head (no hooks) and they are more supportive anyways then some of these flimsy spaghetti strap nothings. This solved the dilemma for now with the sizing.

Go to Penney's and get her measured and fitted. I was a bra fitter at Penney's for 3.5 yrs. Penney's bra fitters take classes and are certified as fitters. The bra fit event should happen soon and the sales are great. When I would do a fitting for a young girl I would fit Mom first so the girl knew what to expect.
I don't know how you measured her but you measure just under the arms and then around the fullest part of the breast. The 1st measurement is her band, the second her cup, 1 inch per cup size. So if she measures a 27/30 her band is 28 and cup B. But all bras fit differently and need to be tried on. I doubt if she really is a 28, Penney's carries 30's in the childrens department. I'm not sure if they carry a 28 even in the catalog or online store.
Penney's has Flirtitude bras geared toward the young body and they have cute prints. Children's department has Maidenform, good bras. Also Lily of France are good bras. Ambreil (sp) from Penney's, private label, are not that good they just don't fit right. Be sure to get her at least one beige bra it won't show under lightweight or light colored tops. Be ready for the time when she hits middle school and suddenly wants cute bras and matching panties. It has nothing to do with boys but with snotty girls who make fun of the girls who don't wear cute undies. And they will let everyone know, 'hey she wears granny bras and panties'.
my opinion: Don't go to Victoria's Secret, every customer who asked me to re-measure them had been measured at VS and they were way off on size.

I take my daughter to Justice and she can try them her self if you are between 2 sizes. Explain her that while in needs to be snuggle it doesn't need to be tight.
I like the thick ones because my daughter is very modest and she feel very uncomfortable with the possibility of anything showing. But they have many styles and I think is a place where girls feel comfortable shooping.

Target has a whole rack of bras for teens and preteens. They have fun colors, come in smaller sizes, and are less structured than women's undergarments. Many of the bras have matching panties. Really cute if she has to change at school for gym. I don't know about the online bra calculators but since every brand sizes differently, I'd just go and try some on.

My BFF just took her daughter to JCPennys. Her daughter is a big girl, and adult bra's would fit her torso, but the cups were too big for her boobs. At Pennys, they measured her and got her into some age appropriate, comfy bras that actually fit. This was like a 6 month process for her until she went to Pennys!! Good luck :)

I've tried measureing myself and have never come up with a true size that fits. I would take her to a store to try on things until something fits. Start with something cotton, stretchy, and comfortable, is my opinion.

I just bought my daughter her first camisole/bras from JC Penny and she just turned 9.

I am reading the answers with interest myself...

It is tough - Bras for people with petite torsos (small band measurements) are difficult to come by (especially with larger cup sizes). And I have never had a "professionally trained" fitter at a department store accurately size me either. What they finally figure out after having me try on different sizes is that they don't carry my size.... I am a 30 D or 32 C depending on bra and I have to buy them online. I think the sizing methods are limited and don't always work if you are too far one way or another on the size spectrum.

That said, I think there are better choices for teenagers with smaller cup sizes - there are some good "junior" bras out there, for now I buy soft cotton ones for my daughter in the juniors section that don't really have sizing (or much support).

We've also tried some different kinds from a consignment store that way we could try variety of styles and sizes and brands and see ourselves which fit and she liked - my daughter was mortally embarrassed by the idea of going be fit by anyone. :) They were cheap and barely used.

My daughter also likes the camisoles that have a built in "bra-shelf" for wearing under things.

Good luck!
