I am not sure what part of Memorial you live in but there is a mom's group in Spring Valley.
Hi Moms,
We just moved to Houston last week, and I have to admit that I'm a little nervous about meeting new folks because I'm currently a SAHM. We just moved into the Memorial area, and I'm looking for a playgroup for our 16-month-old son. I would really appreciate any suggestions you might have. Thanks!

i grew up in houston, moved away, and now i am back after 20 years! in between, we must have moved a thousand times, had kids in there somewhere, and i know how isolating it is with kids. making friends on this side of life is just different! but look at your interests... church? health activities/working out/ yoga? the arts? cooking? volunteering in any way shape or form? comforting meeting people who YOU have a common interest with. and maybe a mothers' day out, even just a couple hours, a couple of days a week, then you meet mommies that way too. it takes time. i live off the north loop... the memorial area always baffles me, because memorial is such a long street, so i don't really know where you are along the way. want to talk? send me a message, ok? that would be good-
Hi M.! I moved to Katy in March, so I know how you feel. I haven't met many people-- just a couple of neighbors who seem to already have lots of friends and commitments. I'll check back to see if anyone mentions any playgroups, but in the meantime, I have two sons (almost three and 15 months), if you'd like to come over and play. If you're interested, you can e-mail me at ____@____.com. I'm also looking into the MOMS Club of Katy South East, but I'm not sure which chapter would serve the Memorial area. I'm still trying to find my way around, so I'm not even sure where that is-- sorry!

Try heading to the area parks (in the am and late pm because of heat). You'll meet other moms in the area. That's how I found out alot of info by just chatting at the local park. Also, if you check out Gymboree ...there are several locations....that's a good place to meet other moms as well.
