Brain Training

Hi! Just wondering if anyone has been through or had your child go through "brain traning"? My son is 4 has sensory problems among other things, I wonder if maybe a learning disability too. It just so happens that a brain training center called LearningRX opened close to us, but I think they can be pretty expensive but supposedly they can help raise a persons IQ up to 15 points, so just curious what some peoples experience has been with it. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Edit: My son is in early intervention and has been since a little before 2. He currently has a physical therapist, speech therapist, and an occupational therapist. He has gone through intensive sensory integration therapy, but was very, very expensive to the tune of almost $500 a week and it was just a little bit helpful. He is in pre-k on a IEP and gets services through the school. I feel like he just needs a certain kind of push to break him through, he has days where I can see a real spark of who he really is, he will be attentive, funny, creative and easy to teach, when his brain is not going in every different direction, I just dont know what that push is!

Hey, I would look into your states early intervention and see if you can get support from an occupational therapist. I don't know this program specifically, but I would be very suspicious of it. I don't believe that is a claim that anyone can make.
Also, best of luck finding solutions for your son. I would look into a sensory integration program instead.

I haven't yet, but we are planning on taking one of our children. A friend of mine has had incredible results with her children using brain training. I am sold on it just listening to her stories!
EDIT: I see you live in Arvada, which is a little far, but I wanted to mention that there is a brain training specialist in the Peyton area that is $300 for the full treatment. I know a couple of people who have used her. PM me if you want her info.

Please do not do this to your son. He will remember it and think that he is "stupid," and that something is wrong with him.

I am not joking. My years of therapy for learning disabilities left me with poor self-esteem.

Your son's learning difficulties have nothing to do with his IQ. His brain is going in all different directions because of sensory problems and perhaps a learning disability. Raising his score will not help him learn because it doesn't address his needs. I doubt that he would be accepted because of his wide range of needs, anyway.

I suggest that what they teach is how to take tests. Also, one's IQ can vary by 15 or so points depending on when they take the test.
