We are having my daughters 3rd birthday in a few weeks. She is having a fairy party. I always go over the top for party favors and don't know what to do for the little boys. The past 2 years we had neutral themes... This year the girls are getting wands, jewelry, and necklaces (play jewelry). Any ideas?
When we did a mermaid party for my daughter, I put pirate stuff in for the boys. Maybe you could do something like that?
I just had the opposite issue....my son's 3rd birthday party and it was a CARS theme. I just used the same CARS treat bags, but filled them with Hello Kitty stuff instead. I usually do things like stickers, pencils or crayons, and some sort of snack (like fruit snacks or goldfish). For the girls, I got pencils, stamps and bracelets. Just find a theme for the boys and go with that. It worked fine for us!
When my SIL had a fairy party for her daughter she got the boys nerf type bows and arrows. She went the "elf" route for the boys. And they LOVED their gift. I think she got them at Oriental Trading for relatively cheap. Instead of wands and jewlery, she made some quivers using hot glue and foam. They turned out cute, but only held one arrow. :)
At 3, many boys will love wands, jewelry, and necklaces, too. And there's nothing wrong with giving them some of that, and maybe a "boyish" item too. My boys, 7 and 10, would probably love those with an added treasure chest. They can be wizards with the wands, and pirate with the jewels and treasure chests.
Don't sweat it too much, at this age the idea that some things are "girly" and some things are "boyish" comes almost entirely from the parent, not the child!
What about pirate themed stuff ?

i like that there are boy fairies on the tinkerbell movies. you could give them little green bags of fairy dust like Terence has! or little fairy builder tools like the other tinker fairies.
i liked the bubble wand idea. every kid loves bubbles!
or the novelty pointy ears!
i had a fairy party for my 6 yr old a couple months ago. instead of gift bags i had craft areas. there were five different crafts the kids could do including fairy tattoos i found at the dollar store! it was super fun!

I went and got those boy 10 pack of favors from Party City and then got some cars and trucks and some action figures from target and added them to the packs
We run into the same thing at times, so here's some suggestions:
Bubbles in bottles (all kids love them)
Play watches
Matchbox or other cars (if under 3 years of age children will be receiving them you'll need to make sure they are toddler-safe)
Stickers (Boys AND girls love them)
Wands for boys (my nephew had a Harry Potter party last summer and the boys received wands and loved them)
Frisbees or hacky sack bags
Sidewalk chalk
I stop at Dollar Tree (any dollar store would do) when i'm favor hunting. I found the bubbles (which were scented,) chalk, cars, frisbees, cups, plates, napkins, tablecloths and more there for our Elmo party, and saved LOTS of money, too. Hint ~ Be sure to look in the holiday (4th of July) section, I found the chalk, and bubbles there as they were being promoted as Easter basket fillers.

You have gotten tons of awesome ideas but I just wanted to share with you about a princess party my boys went to last weekend. There were no gift bags but the party games all revolved around princess's. We came home with bags full of coins and play rings which my boys used to pretend they were the green lantern and the coins were the treasure they were protecting. So, I guess the point is, don't feel like you have to have special items for the boys. Little kids are usually fine with whatever they get. Have fun with your party!

Just a thought, how about something "magic" related, besides the wands you're already doing. Maybe a magic trick of some sort?? Again, Oriental Trading would be the place I would check. Cute idea!
Little cars, balls, jump ropes can be both, stickers can be both, bubbles can be both, etc
Totally get the bow and arrows that the PP suggested. And those bubble wands. The boys will be thrilled!
How about prince items? Crowns, gold coins (perhaps with chocolate inside?!), ring pops for their "jewels", etc.
Get the girls their fairy stuff and get the little dudes something guyish, like knights or ninja turtles or something.
I would say Pirates stuff ( like Captain Hook since it is loosely related to fairies) or Wizard stuff - or even "Lost Boys" or Peter Pan type stuff - hats liek Peter or Hook, maybe a "boy" wand, Like Harry's...or a sword, like Hook or Peter Pan....then crayons, pencils, erasers, etc.

What about a small lego set, maybe with a pirate theme?
Or, you could get the boys a toy sword and a temporary tattoo.
Bubble wands are also really cool idea, and will be universally love by the boys AND the girls.
