My daughter had green bowel movements (regularly) around that age as well...also on Similac and sometimes Enfamil. I found it so funny that I told her pediatrician that I should call Sherwin Williams and see if they need a new shade of green. Haha. It sounds normal to me! Best of luck to you!

It probably is the formula the baby is on, but I would google it and see what info is out there. I know that certain types of bowel movements can mean different things, so you want to be sure there are no problems. You can "google" just about anything and get a wealth of information! Also -call the pediatrician you use for Gabreil and ask them -it can't hurt.

Sounds normal for most babies on formula; but it could also be an reaction to the formula, do not always jump to the conclusion that they are allergic to foods, not saying that they can't be. My sister is lactose intolarent but that never effected her as a baby or any of her kids until they were older. Talk to the babies Dr and some of it might be the age of the baby as their body becomes better at utilizing the food the bowel movements should change. My children always had fairly hard bowl movements and they would get constipated. Dr finally figure that their body was better using the foods they were eating and so it was taking longer to have the bowl movement which then in turn made them harder. Good Luck! and I hope the child get's to come home to you soon.

My son had the same problem. It turns out he was (and still is at age 3) allergic to dairy. I was breastfeeding, so I had to cut out all dairy and it solved the problem. Is she on milk or soy based formula?

I'm not too familiar with formulas since I breastfeed but I am very familiar with green slimey poo. If she does not appear to be sick at all it could be a sensitivity to the protein in cow's milk. If the formula she is on is milk based try a soy based formula. However, I am not an expert and I don't claim to be so be sure to talk to a peditrician.

Hi - she may also be having trouble with the formula. If she is already on soy, you might want to consider making your own formula either using goats milk (recipe can be found at either www.pecanbread.com or the book Breaking the vicious cycle). Also, i know parents who have used rice milk, added cod liver oil and a selection of amino acids, vitamins and minerals.
What a lucky girl to have such a great grandma who notices. Her health in the long term is going to benefit!

My son had bms like you are describing, green and slimey when I was breastfeeding him, until I got off of dairy products. So he could have a dairy sensitivity. If the formula is dairy-based, I'd see about trying something different and see if that helps.

the green is due to bile, and the look of her bowel movements are due to the speed in which her formula moves through her digestive tract. not a tremendous concern on its own, but if you notice other intestinal symptoms it could mean something more. but again, loose, green bowel movements are relatively normal and should start looking more normal with the introduction of solids.
