Bounce Fabric Softener Bars

Hey Ladies!
I'm wondering what any of you think of the new Bounce fabric softener bars. Have any of you tried them? They're bars that you just stick to the inside of your dryer and the clothes rub across it as they tumble. You don't have to throw in a sheet with every load, and just replace the bar when it erodes away. I like the idea of not throwing dryer sheets in every load (and have a good coupon for this bar!), but am a little leary about actually sticking something to the inside of the dryer. Will it damage the dryer in any way? Will it make it unbalanced? Are they easy to remove? We have a stainless steel tub in our dryer. Any insight would be welcome! Thanks!

What can I do next?

My friend tried them and loved them so I got one. I wasn't as impressed as she was. The clothes smelled nice enough, but the left over static was a deal breaker for me. LOL... I had taken my son to a doctor's appointment out of town and had to stop and buy dryer sheets because my pants were clinging so badly that I couldn't take it anymore! I sat in the car trying to rub the dryer sheet on my pants so I could walk around without looking and feeling ridiculous!
I guess it might depend on the fabrics the clothes are made of, but we went back to dryer sheets or liquid softener.
Nothing works for everyone! Maybe you will have better luck! :)

I LOVE them! I've been using them since they came out. I've never heard any difference in our dryer, so I'm certain it does not make the load unbalanced. Our clothes come out super soft and smelling WONDERFUL! =0) I highly recommend it. As for removing them....you'll just buy the refills of the bar and the base will stay put inside your dryer. For removing that.......I'm thinking it's probably the same as the special razors that you mount in the shower with the sticky backing..... When I remove that, it just takes a little Goo Gone. Hope you love it as much as we do! =0)

This is not really a new idea. Some company came out with it years ago, at least the same idea. I don't remember who it was but I put one in my dryer, and it's still in there. It doesn't work of course - there are no more chemicals left and haven't been for years, but if I peel it off, the adhesive sticks to the side of the dryer. I don't feel like crawling in there with Goo Gone or some other chemical to remove the adhesive - it's probably worse for me to breathe and have touching my clothes! I think if you peel yours off and put another one there, it solves the problem, but most likely you're committing yourself to this product forever!

I am not so sure about these things not being toxic - a lot of products are or appear to be inert until you heat them up. There are some non-toxic products you can buy at Whole Foods, but I've also heard that you can throw a few tennis balls in to keep things from bunching up. I don't think it helps the static though. I wasn't successful with it. I've also heard that you can throw in some balls of aluminum foil, but other sources say that aluminum is not so good for you either.

Frankly, I'm ready to save electricity and save money on dryer products, and get away from all of this stuff about chemicals by just hanging things on a clothesline!

I use a fabric softner sheet that is non-toxic and any other Green product I can get my hands on. I would never use anything around my grandchildren they may be able to get and put in their mouths - a emergency run to the hospital.

Here is Proctor & Gamble MSDS Sheet and I am confused to the toxicity - it's not toxic, but there is a hazard to firemen when it burns, because it can give off Carbon Monoxide fumes and or Carbon Dioxide. Makes me wonder what the heat creates in the dryer. It clearly states should not be used on childrens clothing. The product is probably too new still to have real toxicity information. I would also suggest call poison control for advice.

I use it and i love it! It gives an even smell. I was worried that it would be overpowering but it is not. It sticks really well but I am sure if I pulled on it it would come off without damage to the dryer.

While I do like mine, I am not that impressed. My clothes smell good, but there is still some static cling. It is nice that I don't have to remember to put a dryer sheet in though.

I love the fact that we don't have to find the stupid sheet after each load, however I don't like how little good smell there is. I buy bounce for the smell other than that, the cheaper ones are just as good. I know it doesn't answer the will it be easy to remove part. I haven't noticed any difference in the balance. But it really lasts a long time. We bought it back at the beginning of March and we then had 15 people in the house doing a lot of laundry (mostly for 7 kids and 1 baby). So I'm guessing now that we are down to 5 people it will last a lot longer! It's almost gone, but has probably 10 more loads left in it.

They are toxic and can be harmful for children so if you have children with eczema or skin irritations I would not recommend them or if you are interested in taking precautions to reduce your families exposure to chemicals I would look for a safer alternative.

The bounce dryer bar is no more toxic than regular dryer sheets (Ingredients: Contains inert carrier, biodegradable cationic softeners, and perfume.)

Personally, we like the convenience, ease of use, same bounce smell, and cost savings. I do like the Purex 3-in-1 sheets too. It is not heavy enough to unbalance the load and they are easy to remove. Unlike others we've had no static issues (6 people - about 14 loads a week).

If you're having issues with light scent your loads may be too large.

If you have a couponb, give it a shot. The reviews are pretty subjective.

I'm not too impressed with mine. I still had a ton of static cling so I switched back to sheets.
