I am having a hard time figuring out which bottles and pacifiers I want to use this time. My son used the playtex bottles that had the drop ins. He had terrible colic and tummy issues. He also had stomach surgery when he was 2 wks old. These were the only ones he could tolerate. He really didn't take a pacy and I never forced it on him. I am torn between the Playtex and the Dr. Brown bottles. I think the Dr. Brown would be cheaper in the end because those drop in get expensive. What did you use?
I do want to breast feed. My milk never came in with my son, so I could NOT with him. I plan on pumping and putting the bm in bottles so that my husband can feed him also.
I love Dr. Browns used them with my son (4), granddaughter (2 1/2) and grandson (10 months). Some children will suck any pacifier you give them others like my son after 15 tries finally found one he liked (Nuk) the also only would take the Dr. Browns at his sisters house and would only use the Nuk at home.
Before you go buying out the store, remember: it's not up to you. It's up to baby. I used the playtex nurses with drop-ins for my first 2 no problem... I literally had to try EVERY bottle under the sun with my 3rd... and he finally settled on Dr Browns. Don't go buying a whole lot of any one bottle until BABY knows what they like ;)
I am curious, have you thought about breastfeeding? I have read articles recently about colic being primarily in formula fed babies usually because of their "virgin guts". Apparently new babies' bellies have little "holes" in them and formula can irritate them. Just a suggestion. If not, I used Avent and Tommee Tippee ones when I wasn't nursing. The Tommee Tippees have an air valve to reduce colic.

My husband and I wanted to use glass bottles, and with our daughter being very gassy, we ended up using Dr. Brown's bottles. They worked great for us, and it's really not all that much "extra" cleaning (that being the biggest complaint I had heard when I was researching).
She also loved the MAM pacifier. We tried Nuk and a couple other ones, but ended up always coming back to the MAM.

It is BPA free, has a natural nipple, it not expensive, and comes in 3-packs too.
My son LOVED this bottle, as did I.

My son used the playtex drop in's. He has always had tummy issues and those worked best for him. The drop in's can get expensive, but you dont have to throw them away each time. I always as soon as he was done, washed the drop in with hot water and soap and reused them numerous times before I changed them. It really didnt get expensive. A box of a 100 lasted us quite awhile.
Dr. Browns are extremely hard to get totally clean. The tubes just never look completely clean. I threw them all away. I would use any bottle that is easy to wash.
We use dr browns and even the sip cup, they are AWESOME!
Avent bottles and pacifiers for both kids...no issues.
I used Playtex in the early months and later switched to Avent. My kids were fine with both.
We used Avent on all 3.
I am not sure what the exact issues he had were but breastmilk usually helps with colic a lot. Bonus is that you won't need as many bottles if you breastfeed.
