Does anyone have a really outdated range hood? Have you been able to find a replacement filter? I'm embarrassed to say how long ours has been on there, but when it gets really hot, it smells terrible. I really need to change that filter. Any ideas?

So What Happened?

I sprayed it with 409 and vinegar and let it sit for a while (it's been years, okay?) and then put it in the dishwasher with lots more soap and vinegar. (And I spent three hours cleaning the rest of the hood.) It's sparkling! I'm so excited!

I will now throw it in the dishwasher on a regular basis. I learned something new!

Thanks ladies!

You can google and email the manufacturer to see if they still make replacement filters. I put hy hood filter in the dishwasher every couple of months. It gets rid of all the grease build up.

Take the greasy rat over to home depot and see if they can give you something that will fit :)

Before we got rid of our old range/stove, we used to put the filter in the dishwasher. It really got it clean!

I was gonna say what Nancy said, is it a metal filter? Try popping it in the dishwasher.

:)

And thank God for boring questions!!

Just want to echo the others - Dishwasher! Maybe twice (flip it over) if it's really gunky.
