Booster Seat for Escape Artist

My son is currently in a Graco ComfortSport in my husband's car. He's 2 years old and about 33 pounds. He can unlatch the latch on this carseat and starts to get his arms out of the straps! This isn't a problem in my car where I have a Evenflo Triumph 5. He can't undo the latch.

We want to go ahead and move him to a booster seat that will last him until 100ish pounds. I would prefer it NOT be a 5pt harness style of booster seat unless it's the type where it can come off and just be used with a regular seat belt later.

Any recommendations?

My son loves the Britax Parkway Express Booster, as he can take naps with a head rest. It doesn't bother him any other time, either. However, we all still still prefer the Britax Wizard.

I personally like the Recaro car seats. They have the option of converting to a booster, but I think a 5 pt harness is the best way to go whatever you choose. Personally, I think 2 years is VERY young to be in a booster; weight limit or not.

My son is almost 4 and can easily get himself in and out of a 5 point carseat, so there is NO reason for me to want to put him in anything less safe. It is actually easier for him. I found I had problems with him unbuckeling himself a lot more with the boosters, so we took them out of the car for the time being.

Also, look into the Britax Husky/Regal. They are a 5 point harness for larger children.

Hope this helps, Liz

E.,

We put our daughter in a booster seat when she turned 4 - the one we chose was the Compass B500. I researched several and this one seemed the best (with fewest complaints). I had the Britax carseat for her in my car and didn't like the Britax booster appearance - the blinders on the top would have annoyed her - no matter how "good" they were.

FYI - I ordered these boosters online through Amazon and realized they had them instore at Target for about $20 cheaper.

Good luck!
